Anne is on her way to Queen’s Academy, where she continues to achieve academic success. But when tragedy strikes at home, she must make a choice between her future and the home she has come to love in Avonlea.

When disaster strikes at the Barry home, Anne is called upon to save the day and her reputation. A playful romp on the river lands Anne in hot water again, but she is rescued by an unlikely friend, and back at school, dreams of admission to the elite Queens Academy begin to take root for the children of Avonlea.

Anne finds a bosom friend, and is trembling with anticipation to meet the other children of Avonlea, but her first day of school goes horribly awry when Gilbert Blythe teases her about her hair. Anne's vanity continues to get her into trouble, and an unwitting mistake at her first tea party has disastrous results.
