    Introducing "Foretold"

"Foretold" is the newest podcast from the L.A. Times, and we're sharing a preview of the first episode with you here today.

In the fall of 2019, reporter Faith E. Pinho received a tip from a woman named Paulina Stevens. Paulina claimed she had grown up in an insular Romani community in California, where she was raised to be a wife, mother and fortuneteller — until she decided to break away. That first call unraveled a story spanning multiple continents, hundreds of years, and complex metaphysical realities.

Follow "Foretold" to hear new episodes every Tuesday.

Great Companion

This is a great companion to HBO’s Winning Time”., which just keeps getting better and better. At first there was a thirst for historic accuracy, but it now apparent how the thoughtful weaving of facts and dramatization is creating an impressive and immersive viewing experience. The spot on acting and atmospheric portrayal of the 70’s-80’s L.A. is not to be missed. Your podcast is shining light where it is needed on the fascinating characters along with societal issues we still deal with today. Mahalo.

Shallow And Riddled With Ads

The first thing to know is that at least one-third of every episode is ads. It’s ridiculous and makes the whole series not worth hearing. As for the substance, it’s a lot of empty noise. No real insights, nothing you did not already know. Too many talking heads with nothing to add. Also, this viewpoint is very, very Woke. For example: people addicted to drugs, like Spencer Haywood, are victims. Everybody is a victim. Nobody is responsible for their own acts. The podcast is annoying and stupid and a waste of time.

Irritating

There is an official podcast for the HBO show, which I listen to and would recommend.

This one is just riding the coattails of the show. There is a lot of annoying pseudo-dialog between presenters, which I often hear in lower end podcasts - y’know - scripted casual conversation - ugh.

Also host’s voice constantly cracking at the end of every sentence is just too irritating to listen to.
