Megan Nix was very interesting. I am a retired special education teacher. In my early years, when I was starting my family my students were 2-4 years old. We, as teachers were aware of CMV. Some of our students were diagnosed with cmv. 27 years ago, pregnant with my second child I requested a CMV test. I figured I had already had the virus. I was seeking piece of mind. The understanding then was if you already had the antibodies you would not not pass it on to your baby. I had an active case. I had an amniocentesis and the virus had not crossed the placenta. It was a very scary time. I can vividly recall the emotional rolling coaster waiting for the amniocentesis. This was before the internet and info was hard to come by. Treatment of any kind was not offered. I’m not sure if it was an option 27 years ago. Bottom line is some of us were aware of CMV and understood that it was passed on through body fluids. I am glad the information/ awareness is being spread with this book.

Megan Nix interview out of character

I generally love this podcast. As a pregnant mom with 2 toddlers and an OB nurse I though the Nix interview was a lot of scaremongering. Naturally her view is a little biased based on her experience. That was not the typical episode, and I was disappointed. If you’re going to interview people who are Catholic but are really platforming a more general topic, maybe stick to the Catholic part, e.g. how she applied Thomas’ remedies, rather than platforming a controversial PSA.
