The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

Pick of the Week #807 – Kang the Conqueror #4

It's another strong week, but one conquers all, as it must be. The French are an apparent theme, as well as the exploitation of your billionaire relatives. Also, Josh said Prohibition ended in 1932, but it was 1933, and we are all deeply shamed. And make sure you check out Tough Jews, if it sounds good to you.

They can talk in complete sentences! About comics!

They don't seem to like comics very much.

Complain a lot about having to read comics and do a podcast.

These guys...I’m sorry, whenever I let them back in they tick me off all over again. They’re like the aging social worker or special Ed teacher who’s been at it 20+ years but burned out on their career and just keep doing it because it’s all they know. Most seem unable to derive much pleasure from the worlds of comics, Star Wars, etc. My issue is less so with the main 2 guys as with a couple of the guests (particularly the nasally one who used to be a fan and comes off as a try hard who worries too much about disagreeing with Conor and the main dude). There’s also a guest who is more measured in his tone and usually comes in for the film reviews; I like him just fine.
Case in point, the new Suicide Squad film. I agree the first one was disappointing but this latest one was a riot! I’m a huge comics reader and collector since 1989, my wife could care less, and my 14 year old daughter has a mild interest (unless it’s Hiddleston Loki, then she’s all in!)...all 3 of us came away loving SS2. I was foolishly excited to hear the iFanboy review and had to turn it off after 10 minutes because 2 of the 4 guys could barely find a good thing to say about it. It’s like this all too much imo.

I much prefer Comic Book Guys anymore because their show is informative, fun, funny and doesn’t take itself so seriously.

3 stars because i do still respect and get a lot from their weekly comic reviews. I just wonder if some of these guys should seek a career change for peace of mind. I ended up doing it after a 15-year IT career and have never been happier! For me, It’s just not that enjoyable to listen to people talk about subjects they don’t seem to like all that much.
