#85 - Jijnes Patel, Product Leader, on Career Pivots, AI, & the Future of Gaming

Back to our regularly scheduled programming with the Next Iteration Podcast! Having the privilege to talk cool ideas with amazing people has always been what we love the most about hosting a platform like this.

On today’s episode, we talk career pivots, AI, and the future of gaming with Jijnes! He led platforms and product at EA for years, and recently pivoted to biotech to work with TempusAI.

If you know us, we're massive FIFA fans, and it was so fun getting to hear some behind-the-scenes insights on one of my favorite products of all time.

#84 - The Return! Catching up, what’s changed, finding purpose, and conversational side quests

So, 2023 kinda kicked our ass 😅. And it's weird, usually as we approach the New Year you see a flood of "new year, new me" posts all over your feed — but it felt different this time with 2024. Did you guys feel that too?

In place of the usual posts with all the fanfare and typical hype, there was a quiet determination instead. A lot of people I talked to felt this way — no words, let's just do this. Action. With intention.

I can feel it in my bones, this is going to be a milestone year for so many of us.

Now, while Fuad Ali and I were getting our asses kicked last year, The Next Iteration Podcast (our baby and brainchild) was one of the first things we started to forego.

And this sucked for many reasons. Of course, we'd lost any semblance of balance in our lives. It turns out when you throw chronic stress, anxiety, and poor health choices into the cauldron, you don't get the Powerpuff girls — just mental health issues and an all-inclusive vacation into a rut.

But more than that, we genuinely LOVED doing this thing. And it created a void that nothing else could really fill.

It let us meet so many cool ass people and we found our own community in you guys as well.

So, as we embark into this New Year we're committed to doing this again, with intention. We learned a lot from those low points last year, and we grew a lot. We're so excited to reconnect with you guys again and catch up ❤️

And we hope that we can be part of your 2024 glow-up as well.

    Here's to your continued success.

And getting up more times than you fall.

Great Podcast For Young Professionals!

Awesome podcast that I listen to quite often :) super great discussion on issues that young professionals face, including imposter syndrome, and stress / anxiety. It’s cool to see people talking so candidly about this stuff!

Amazing podcast

I’ve been listening to this podcast on Spotify since a fellow UC Berkeley student was featured! I especially loved the stoicism episode (I just got Meditations from the library).

The failures episode I just finished listening to which prompted me to leave a review. Everything discussed really hit me because I often stress about these things especially during quarantine. I really hope we as a society can uplift each other to accept failures and also be upfront with that part of ourself that isn’t perfect on social media.

Anyway, thanks for the podcast!
