eviivo Wins TravelTech Breakthroughs' "Hotel Channel Management Platform Of The Year" Award

eviivo Wins TravelTech Breakthroughs' "Hotel Channel Management Platform Of The Year" Award

eviivo, a leading hospitality software company known for its award-winning property management system, eviivo Suite, and eviivo Collective, the world's only collection of unique, notable and luxury independent properties, has announced eviivo Suite's Channel Manager has received "Hotel Channel Management Platform of the Year" in the second annual TravelTech Breakthrough Awards program
The awards program is conducted by TravelTech Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organisation that evaluates and recognises standout travel & hospitality technology companies, products and services around the globe.
eviivo Suite's Channel Manager helps independent hoteliers expand their reach and visibility online. The solution offers deep seamless integrations with leading online travel agencies (OTAs). This results in automated synchronisations of Rates, Availability, Photos, Descriptions, Amenities, Deposit/Cancellation Policies, Promotions, Cleaning, Messages, and more.
Users have access to a unified booking calendar that clearly displays the source of all bookings and the ability to set rules to automatically close inventory and adjust rates on all channels, specific channels, or commission-based channels.
eviivo's Channel Manager software makes it easy to connect with Airbnb, Expedia.com, Booking.com, Google, Tripadvisor and a wide range of regional and specialist channels. The depth of these OTA integrations is unique in that few manual updates are required regardless of growth. An unparalleled number of updates, once made within eviivo Suite, are pushed out to channels automatically.
eviivo Channel Manager also simplifies processes for hoteliers through control of which channels they connect to; notifications of an automatic opt-in to each new channel added to the eviivo portfolio; and helpful information on each channel in the 'opt-ins' page.
The integrated system provides centralised control and visibility, real-time updates to prevent over bookings, extensive automation and granular control of channel updates. With frequent API updates and maintenance, eviivo can also integrate messages from Vrbo, Expedia, Airbnb and Booking.com in one inbox.
eviivo CEO Michele Fitzpatrick said: "Channel management should be completely intuitive for independent hoteliers and seamlessly scalable as their channel business grows.
"We designed our product in response to that, making sure what we offer is cost-effective and properties are put in front of thousands of potential customers,"
"We're pleased to receive this vote of confidence from TravelTech Breakthrough. Our goal is to continue to help independent hoteliers with fully automated, frictionless and advanced technologies.
"Channel Manager helps them to make informed decisions on channel mix so they can overcome the associated challenges with channel management and stay competitive."
The mission of the annual TravelTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry's most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the top technology companies, solutions and products in the travel & hospitality technology industry today. This year's program attracted thousands of nominations from over 12 different countries throughout the world.
Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director of TravelTech Breakthrough Awards said: "In today's super-competitive landscape, hoteliers need to connect to OTAs to advertise their accommodation to a global audience.
"Automation is the gold standard for success in the hospitality industry. Most channel managers update rates and availability across channels, but eviivo's integrations go much further,"
"eviivo Channel Manager empowers property owners to expand their reach, automate processes, and maximise bookings.
"With eviivo, smaller hotels gain visibility into the online distribution of their property in order to become more efficient and drive increased bookings and revenue. eviivo Channel Manager is our 'Hotel Channel Management Platform of the Year.'"

Money in the Metaverse: Digital Assets, Online Identities, Spatial Computing, reviewed

Money in the Metaverse: Digital Assets, Online Identities, Spatial Computing, reviewed

We review the latest book by David Birch and Victoria Richardson. See more about the book here.
Money in the Metaverse: Digital Assets, Online Identities, Spatial Computing, reviewed
It has been an interesting journey to follow David Birch across his last few books and various lectures, across many topics and countries. We have enjoyed his insights and analysis of where financial trends are going and what to look out for. This book continues this journey with a granular and deep dive into the nuts and bolts of what digital assets could or will come to offer us in the near and further down the road future.
This book arrives at a timely moment because it can be difficult sometimes to navigate between the over exuberant digital enthusiasts who tell us that this time is now. If this is the case, despite plenty of hype, why does it seem like no one wearing AR or VR headsets in daily life. Sure they might be doing so somewhere, but when did you last see someone in daily life doing so.
Similar with second life, and other heavily touted metaverses, why do they then seem to be overhyped and under populated.
This book is a great, and critical analysis of what is possible, and what could be possible. The challenge perhaps though is to work out what the rate of adoption is actually going to be. How soon will it actually become common place. For sure covid and lockdown times nudged certain things deeper into the digital space. Some things did accelerate and are now much more widely used.
Yet, at the same time, now that lockdown already rapidly recedes into near ancient history, not everything that was predicted to become common place actually came to pass.
We enjoyed this book and it is thoughtful, but it seems like we are still a little in the dark about how soon is now? When will some of these trends and technologies be used by all of us, or at least most of us imminently. As always, getting these timelines correct is perhaps trying to nail jelly to the wall. A good read, though maybe it is impossible to accurately know when all of these trends will be taken as normal and widely used by all.
    More about the book
Money in the Metaverse: Digital Assets, Online Identities, Spatial Computing and Why Virtual Worlds Mean Real Business will be published in late April 2024.
The Metaverse - built from virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality - is arriving via wearable headsets that have cameras, microphones, speakers, sensors and communications built in. These spatial computing technologies create new social and economic connections, and while some of these connections are virtual, the business implications are very real.
The authors set out the potential for financial services in metaverses and the 'always-on' immersive future internet, beginning with a look at the key technologies needed to make these metaverses useful for businesses. They then go on to explore the emerging realities in which new markets will function and the digital assets that will be exchanged in transactions between online identities.
The book develops a comprehensive and practical model of the Metaverse and the nature of those new transactions in a business environment. It has a clear view of virtual worlds and it provides both a simple taxonomy for digital assets and a tried-and-tested model of digital identity that will provide a better understanding of the opportunities that exist in the many metaverses where we will work, rest and play in the near future.

Gamma Risk strengthens UK presence with launch of retrofit calculator solution

Gamma Risk strengthens UK presence with launch of retrofit calculator solution

Gamma Risk, the property risk technology company, has announced that it is strengthening its UK presence with the launch of a retrofit calculator solution, EPCWOW. The company - which has an office in Manchester and has previously rolled out other products in the UK market - is hoping to replicate the success it has had in its home market with BERWOW.
Since launching in 2020, the BERWOW application has enabled over 100,000 people across the country to explore retrofit projects, resulting in millions of euros being invested in residential retrofit. For SSE Airtricity alone, BERWOW has resulted in a 60% increase in retrofit conversion rates. Last year, AXA became the first insurance company offering the BERWOW tool to Irish homeowners, using it to support its new Go Green web platform.
Specifically developed for the UK market, including Northern Ireland, EPCWOW is a new web tool which can be customised for each client and is particularly relevant for customers of banks, insurance companies and energy providers.
The white-label offering helps these organisations to better support their customer bases by enabling homeowners to understand both the financial and energy savings benefits of home upgrades. Furthermore, it enables these organisations to affect real change in their customers' properties, reducing their Scope 3 CO emission levels in the process. This results in the reduction of CO emissions across properties and therefore improves the green credentials of providers.
To enable EPCWOW to calculate the energy efficiency of specific property types and potential cost savings for homeowners through selected retrofit measures, Gamma Risk has partnered with EPC specialist, Quidos.
Homeowners simply enter their property type details into the online platform, which prompts EPCWOW to suggest retrofit improvements based on the specific house type along with estimated costs, bill savings, grants, and other benefits. The user can then select and deselect measures until the desired bundle of upgrades is satisfactory and affordable.
The rollout of EPCWOW comes as Gamma rebrands as two entities, Gamma Risk and Gamma Labs. Gamma Risk assesses both physical and transitional risks to property assets for the entire UK and Ireland through the use of cutting-edge technology, operating the largest and most complete property risk database for the region.
Gamma Risk will also aim to deliver innovative solutions - including EPCWOW - and data insights which enable businesses to make more sustainablebusiness decisions, adapt operations to reduce CO emissions and uphold compliance with regulatory requirements.
Commenting on the launch of the new service, Feargal O'Neill, CEO of Gamma Risk, said: "This is the first interactive energy calculation tool of its type in the UK market, regenerating net savings as different measures are selected. By simplifying complexity and delivering high-quality data insights through cutting-edge solutions, we can help businesses across the UK to enhance their customer experience and enable sustainability.
Through EPCWOW specifically, this means empowering homeowners and supporting retrofit journeys.
"This solution will not only help to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency for individual properties but for society as a whole - driving towards a greener future and showing the future impact of current actions. It also allows the businesses involved to boost their standing from both a sustainability and profitability perspective."

Why sometimes questions are the answer

Why sometimes questions are the answer

    Guest post by Paolo Gallo
We all got to a point where we need to re-assess, take stock of our careers and life, where we know that keeping on doing what we have always done is not the answer.
    Shall we explore how?
Who is the most relevant influencer of all time? Please think about it.
Are you coming up with some famous singer, actor, politician or sports star? Let me help you: the most critical influencer of all times 1) is not and never has been on any social media; 2) has not written one single line in his life; 3) he does not sing or dance or act; 4) we don't have any picture or image of him, but we know he was not attractive, and even frequently ridiculed for his ugliness, and - ready? - 5) his fellow citizens voted to execute him.
Then, he peacefully drank a glass of hemlock (please don't try this at home) and was gone.
Why questions can be the answer sometimes
So let me introduce him to you: Socrates. He's perhaps the most recognized philosopher of all time, and yet we know so little about him. What we do know comes from his fellow philosophers Aristotle, Plato, the playwright Aristophanes and the historian Xenophon. But, interestingly, he didn't leave us with any philosophical theory or any formula such as E=mc2 that made Einstein famous. So, why is Socrates still so influential in our lives?
We have learned from him an approach to life, not a theory or a formula. I guess that teaching people to use their minds is still dangerous, even if people who do so are not forced to drink poison anymore. Socrates was interested in seeking the right question rather than providing a plausible answer.
His method is called maieutic, the art of midwives. The difference is that he devoted his life to supporting people to give birth to ideas and solutions rather than babies. Wait: isn't this the beginning of becoming an independent thinker? Socrates is - at least to me - the person who created coaching.
Let me offer you with some of the questions you need to ask yourself. Take your time to let them sink in; take your time to reflect on them and then act on them. So, please take a pen, switch off your phone, sit comfortably, get a glass of water, focus on yourself and breathe deeply ten times. Ready? You will need to Visualize, reflect, imagine, create
What do you stand for? What matters to you?
Begin with the end in mind. What is your definition of success?
What are you doing for others?
What value do you create for others?
What are you good at now?
What do you want to be good at in the future?
What are you doing now to help yourself to get there?
What are you doing that is derailing your journey?
What are you NOT doing that you should start immediately?
What are you doing that you should stop immediately?
What do you do when you don't know what you are doing? (How, where and with whom you spend your free time will give you a hint.)
If you spend - better - invest quality time you will find the answer because you have formulated the right question. Thank you Socrates, again.

AI-powered tool set to revolutionise ESG assessments

AI-powered tool set to revolutionise ESG assessments

Female-founder launches tech solution to save millions of hours on ESG research
Each year, environmental and social specialists spend millions of hours on critical research to assess the risks and impacts of development projects around the world.
While this work is essential to meet sustainability related financing requirements, the reality is a large proportion of experts' time is spent gathering huge amounts of historic data, regional statistics, policy documents, local legislation and other information, before they are even able to apply their professional analysis and judgement.
    Improving ESG assessments
Now, a new AI-powered solution is set to revolutionise the way E&S experts work, potentially saving thousands of hours, improving accuracy and empowering experts to add value more efficiently.
myESRA is the world's first automated research assistant that puts the industry's most comprehensive environmental and social specific knowledge base at the fingertips of E&S experts. myESRA's knowledge base gathers all historic project documents disclosed by development banks, regional and national statistics, lender policies and local legislation from hundreds of different sources with weekly updates.
A full environmental and social impact assessment for a high-risk project can cost up to US$500,000. The biggest cost item within the project is collection of primary and secondary data - repetitive, manual tasks that typically take hours. myESRA can not only find secondary data in seconds, but also provides citation and reference to the original document or source.
myESRA is the brainchild of world leading social development specialist Ildiko Almasi Simsic. After spending 15 years working on ESG projects for the likes of the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Environment Programme, she has experienced first-hand the frustrations and inefficiencies that are impeding progress in companies ESG efforts around the world.
Speaking about the launch of myESRA, Ildiko Almasi Simic said: "Environmental and social risk assessments are crucial, not only for organisations, but also the communities and habitats they impact, so it seems crazy they are still so reliant on manual, time-consuming processes.
I realized the industry was ready for a technology-driven transformation, so I set about developing a customized solution that uses AI technologies to free up professionals to add real value through their expert insights and analysis."
myESRA is available now from its parent company, E&S Solutions. For further information go to http://essolutions.ai/

Hard on the ears

The content in this podcast is just ok.
The fact that the voice sounds like a porn bot is bad enough, but what’s worse is this is an “Irish” podcast with a British VoiceOver accent. I unsubscribed, it was painful to listen to.
