Leviticus 9 Bible Study - The Establishment of the Priesthood - Part 2 - The 1st Tabernacle Service

In this Bible study of Leviticus chapter 9, we see the first tabernacle service. Up until this point, Moses has been conducting all the sacrifices, but now Aaron and his sons will take on the role of tabernacle priests, as outlined at the end of Exodus and fully explained in the first 7 chapters of Leviticus. At the end of the service, we see the Glory of the Lord appear to the people, and we see God consume their offerings with fire from heaven! We conclude this talk camping out on these two subjects, the Glory of the Lord and Fire being used as a sign from God. Outline 00:10 - introduction - where we are at in Leviticus 02:20 - Reading Leviticus 9.1-6 03:24 - This is a summary of what is going to happen in the chapter. Moses is directing Aaron. Up to this point, Moses had been doing the offerings; now, Aaron and his sons were finally ready to do the job outlined at the end of Exodus and at the opening of Leviticus. 04.12 - Reading Leviticus 9.7-14 05.27 - Explanation 05.46 - Reading Leviticus 9.15-22 06:47 - Explanation - The offerings have now been made for the people of Israel. 08:14 - Application - we must deal with our own sinful practices in our lives before we can be the most useful to God in helping others. Matthew 7.3-5 Is a great example for us given by Jesus. This all has to do with the sanctification process; we are forever (in this life) a work in progress. 12:54 - Reading Leviticus 9.23-24. 14:00 - Examples in the Bible of fire consuming an offering or a sacrifice. Jdg 6.11-22 - Gideon - speaking to an angel of the Lord. 1 Kgs 18.16-39 - Elijah on Mount Carmel 2 Chr 7.1-3 - David dedicates the temple, 23:20 - The Glory of the Lord Glory = כָּבוֹד (kāḇôḏ) Exo 16.10 Exo 24.16-17 Exo 40:33-35 Lev 9.23-24 2 Chr 7.1-3 Ezek 8.4; 9.3; 10.4, 18; 11.22-23 Luke 2.8-9 John 1.14 1 Cor 6.19-20 John 17.20-23 Rev 21.22-23 Support Iron Sheep Ministries: https://Ironsheep.org/donateListen to the podcast: https://anchor.fm/ironsheepContact Dave & the ISM team: info@ironsheep.orgBe notified of each new teaching, join the email list: http://eepurl.com/g-2zAD

  2. Leviticus 8 - The Establishment of the Priesthood - Part 1 - The Ordination.

Leviticus 8 - The Establishment of the Priesthood - Part 1 - The Ordination.

Leviticus 8 Bible Study - The Establishment of the Priesthood - Part 1 - The Ordination. In this Bible Study we look at Leviticus chapter 8. Chapters 8-10 are all about the establishment of the priesthood, and today we look at the ordination process. God gave Moses very specific instructions in Exodus 28 and 29 and here we see those plans carried out. Outline: 00:49 - Leviticus 1-7 Offerings Review The offerings outlined in Leviticus 1-7: the burnt offering, the grain offering, the fellowship (peace) offering, as well as the sin and guilt offerings. We spent a lot of time looking at the blood of an offering. Leviticus 17.11 - the life is in the blood. The blood makes atonement. Heb 10.1-4. Heb 10.12 06:00 - Prayer06:27 - Leviticus 8 overview.- More on the priesthood, read Exodus 28-19 09:32 - Leviticus 8.1-4 10:55 - Leviticus 9.5-9 For more on the tabernacle priests’ outfits read Leviticus 28 and watch the bible study video: https://youtu.be/ESCe9UF-nRg 12:35 What did the Israelite High Priests’ outfit look like?Photo taken from Rose Guide to the Tabernacle:https://www.christianbook.com/rose-guide-to-the-tabernacle/benjamin-galan/9781596362765/pd/362765?event=BRSRCG|PSEN 15:02 - What are the Urim and the Thummim in the Bible? Exo 28.30 Num 27.21 1 Sam 14.37-45 21:34 - Leviticus 8.10-13 (anointing oil of the tabernacle and everything in it and outside it). 23:11 - Leviticus 8.14-17 - “long lobe of the liver” 25:32 - Leviticus 8.18-2126.50 - Leviticus 8.22-29 28:31 - Why does Moses put blood on the Right ear lobe, the right thumb, and the right big toe of Aaron (the high priest)? 32:40 - Leviticus 8.30-36 - Everything has now been anointed and set apart for the work of the Lord. 35:25 - If Jesus is our high priest (Heb 4.14-16) why do we not see Him go through a similar ordination process? Why does he not need to make atonements or sacrifices?Heb 9.11-15 - gives us the answer. 27:56 - Conclusions: In the Old Covenant, God’s people had a priesthood, but under the New Covenant, we, the church, are called to be that priesthood. 1 Peter 2.5, “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” We are still called to make sacrifices today, but they are spiritual in nature, and not through the blood of animals. 1 Peter 2.9, “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Cor 6.18-20, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” Closing Question for you to think on, do you consider yourself a holy, anointed priest of the Lord, anointed, consecrated, Set Apart for the Lord? If not, why not? If so, how? Matthew 5:1-12 Bible Study, The Beatitudes

In this bible study, we cover Matthew 5.1-12 looking at the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are a list of 8 statements from Jesus, each with a promise. “Blessed” - happy, joyful, on the right path- is the person who follows each of Jesus’ calls. This includes a call to be poor in spirit, to mourn our sinful state, to be meek, to thirst for righteousness, to show mercy, to be pure of heart, to be a peacemaker, and to rejoice in persecution. The Beatitudes are a progressive ladder, with each separate step being critical to understand before attempting the next step. Some of the steps are easier for some than others, and that's ok, but we need to take these one at a time, and do our best to follow Jesus’ call. Keeping in mind that on our own, without the help of the Holy Spirit, we are not capable of any of them. Outline: 00:24 - Introduction to Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount 02:10 - What is sanctification? 02:58 - Prayer 03:43 - Reading Matthew 5.1-12 04:54 - What are the Beatitudes? The name “Beatitude” comes from the LATIN: BEATUS - bā-ˈä-təs (“Bay a tues”) The Greek is μακάριος makarios mak-ar'-ee-osEnglish - “Blessed,” “Bless-ed” or “happy” 1 Peter 1.8 Think of the Beatitudes as a road map, better yet, think of it as a ladder. A step ladder of the sanctification process. 07:53 - Matthew 5.3 - Blessed are the POOR IN SPIRIT 08:05 - What does it mean to be poor in spirit? STEP 1 - Be humble. Realize you are nothing without God. John 15.5 Php 2.3-4 Read Luke 18.9-14. Pro 16.18 13:51 - Matthew 5.4 - Blessed are THOSE WHO MOURN 14:06 - What does it mean to mourn in the Bible? Revelation 3:14-22 Bible Study - The Church in Laodicea. They were amazing in their own eyes, but not to Jesus.

In this Bible study, we focus on Revelation 3.14-22. This is a message from Jesus to the church of Laodicea. Laodicea was one of seven churches in Asia Minor (modern-day western Turkey) to which Jesus had the Apostle John write a letter. The church in Laodicea thought they were rich and successful, when in God’s eyes, they were weak and spiritually useless. Laodicea was judging itself on the world’s standard, not God’s.
