Erin McCarthy - The How-To's Regarding Oral Care and NV-HAP
Today we have the incredible Erin McCarthy on today! We discussed oral care and NVHAP. This sounds super simple, I get it! However, this is so important and one of those things we don't learn in-depth in graduate school. Now we have people dedicating their lives and research to this super important first step! Have you heard of NVHAP? Nope, I hadn't either.. (can you guess who works primarily with pediatrics?) Take a listen to learn more about this and learn from this incredible leader in our field.. did I mention she is affiliated with many organizations, universities, and starting her own business! This SLP does more in a day than I most likely do in a month.. check her out!

Leanna Vollintine: Chronic Pain, Running a Business & The Overlap
Today we sit down with Leanna Vollintine for PART 2! Part Two is all about what chronic pain is and how it affects those with the diagnosis in their day to day. We also discuss how this can affect running a business. Our biggest take away from the episode is to have open communication with parents/families that you work with to remind them that you are a person as well! Take that time off, run a little late, take a nap.. but don't feel bad about it (or do it often)! So whether you are a chronic pain sufferer or not, this episode will be helpful to you starting a business :)
Remember this is PART 2, so go listen to PART 1 for more of Leanna and her amazing personality!

Kimberly Sanzo: Misconceptions of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Population
Today I am beyond thrilled to have Kimberly Sanzo join me today (as you can tell by my obsessive talking)! We discussed the Deaf/hard of hearing populations and the misconceptions that not only the public has about them and their disability, but us as therapists are guilty of as well. Both of us have seen first hand these misconceptions in real life and I learned so much about hearing loss through this episode. These kiddos (and adults) have so much to teach us (about something we can never quite understand) and I really appreciate people like Kimberly taking initiative to help their voices be heard!
