Special: behind the scenes of the show

Special: behind the scenes of the show

In today’s episode, Rosie & Jeremie talk about the behind the scenes of the Just Interesting People podcast. We talk about why we started a podcast in the first place, the technical side of things, how we find guests, promoting the podcast on social media, editing and then we talked about our challenges and gains.

One thing is for sure.. we love doing this podcast. We love to learn about other people’s experiences and also reflect that back within ourselves and learn more about our morals, our beliefs and start to question things deeper.

Of course, we couldn’t do this without our guests so shout out to everyone who has come onto the podcast and shared their story! And thank you to our listeners.

We feel very lucky to be doing this and we hope you enjoy this episode as we talk about the reality behind the scenes of hosting your own show - including the reality of staying motivated!

    Eleanor Watkins: becoming chef

    Eleanor Watkins: becoming chef

In today's episode, we welcome our sister-in-law Eleanor. Eleanor is a chef based in Surrey (England) near London, founder of Educated Cooking.

Eleanor is from Louisville, Kentucky in the United States. She starts by sharing with us about her upbringing: growing up in a privileged family, taking up horse riding & competing internationally, but also some personal struggles.

Early on Eleanor had a strong interest in food & cooking. She got a degree in Nutrition in the US, then moved to the UK to attend a Master’s in Food Science at the University of Leeds. That's when she met Olly, Rosie's brother, who would later become her husband.

Eleanor talks to us openly about the challenges of a career as a chef. Not having a set clear path to reach your goals, dealing with the craziness of the job, experimenting with different concepts to create a successful business, adjusting to health issues to have a sustainable career... it's far from an easy path as you will see!

Matthew Koman: finding balance through sports & helping others

Matthew Koman: finding balance through sports & helping others

Matt is a professional athlete who plays for the USA Beach Handball Team and is also a holistic coach. Matt's life has always been very "sport-centric", growing up with athlete parents and playing baseball, basketball & (American) football himself.

Matt is a very talented athlete, with innate skills, great DNA and an attraction to competition. However for years, Matt lacked the skills surrounding the sports: rest, nutrition, taking care of his mental & emotional health, etc. From the outside, his twenties looked extremely successful as he was coaching professional athletes and high-performers, and he even opened a middle-school for young athletes! But he was also burning himself out.

Now in his early thirties, Matt has learned how to take care of himself and live a more holistic balanced life. He intentionally shares his knowledge with individuals who are looking to breakthrough and live a more healthy lifestyle, plus he also works with businesses to bring healthier practices to their workplace.

A conversation full of golden nuggets which we hope through Matt's experiences & perspectives will bring a ton of value for you as well! Enjoy

Nasser aka Mister Fuji: the Pokemon collector

Nasser aka Mister Fuji: the Pokemon collector

Nasser is a famous collector in the Pokemon world, also known as Mister Fuji. Like many kids on the planet, Nasser fell in love with Pokemon as a child in 1999 when the 1st game was released on the Game Boy.

On top of playing the video game, Nasser started collecting the cards as well (like many did including Jeremie). However, the main difference with most people in the world, is that he didn't throw away his cards when he got older.

In 2014, when Nasser had a stable job and the financial resources, he started collecting cards again... his love for Pokemon didn't fade away. From there, everything skyrocketed and in a few years Nasser became a full time collector/trader/investor!

He now owns very rare unique cards, and has a collection worth hundreds of thousands of dollars 🤯

Pokemon completely changed his life. So listen to this episode if you want to find out exactly how that happened!
