How Your Identity Impacts Your Money

How Your Identity Impacts Your Money

In the season finale of Keep Finance Queerd we are keeping finance personal by discussing how your personal identity impacts your finances. Traditional personal finance advice often attempts to put money in a vacuum. It tells you that all you need is to build a better budget, save more, spend less, and essentially just manipulate the numbers in order to be "good with money". The key connection missing in most personal finance advice is that it’s less about the numbers, and more about the person.
In this week's solo episode, I share 4 major ways that your identity impacts your money. We will discuss the unique ways that both your personal and social identity influence your financial behaviours. I recommend having a journal by your side for this one so that you can reflect on the questions throughout the episode!

Thank you SO much to everyone who has listened to an episode.  If you haven’t already, I would love it if you’d take 5 minutes to leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. I'll see you all for Season 2 in 2023!!!

Roe v. Wade: reproductive rights, financial impact and reclaiming control

Roe v. Wade: reproductive rights, financial impact and reclaiming control

The overturning of Roe v. Wade is more than an attack on human rights. It’s also a financial crisis. On June 24, 2022 Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey were overturned under the opinion that there is no constitutional right to abortion. How did this happen? What does it mean for us? How can we take action? That's what this week's solo episode is going to cover.

We will go over a brief history of Roe V. Wade, what the overturning means and discuss what this means for people with uteruses both in the US and Canada. I will also explain the financial impact of restricting access to abortions, and how you prepare yourself financially.  Plus I've got you covered with tips on how to protect yourself and different ways to take action.

This might be the most important episode I've ever recorded, and I urge you to listen all the way through. It's heavy content, but important content.

Finally a podcast that makes cents.

I’m so excited to level up my queer personal finance game.

Millennial Mood

Ellyce is a millennial whisperer when it comes to finance. She truly addresses the intersectionalities of all of our many identities when it comes to our monies, and personally I have never felt so seen! I CANNOT WAIT to learn more from her!! LETS DO THIS!!

Addison_Coy ,

Shifted mindset!

Since following Ellyce, taking her BOAB course, and interacting with her about finances, my mindset on money has shifted and that’s reflected in my financial situation! A year ago I was in a spot where I was making more money, had less bills, and was extremely stressed about money all the time to a place where I am making less money, have more financial responsibilities, but am putting more money into my future and am secure in my financial situation. The approaches that Ellyce has about the intersectional impact of money and individuality she shares has been so impact to me!
