Their iconic pop-punk album, Contender, turns 10 this year, and to mark that anniversary, they’re heading out on a https://otherdesertcity.com/tour (headlining tour) this summer, hitting just about every region in the US. We were so thrilled to talk with Joe Candelaria, the band's lead vocalist and songwriter, about getting back on the road after a two-year break, revisiting songs he wrote a decade ago, showing love to your influences, being gentle with your past self, and what your favorite Ninja Turtle says about your taste in pizza. This was a really fun episode with a very thoughtful, candid guest, and we're excited for y'all to hear it!

They announced the album today along with the release of its first single, the earthy and ethereal (yes, it somehow manages to be both, simultaneously) “https://longnecklass.bandcamp.com/track/gardener-2 (Gardener).” The single features lush violins arranged and performed by https://twitter.com/dreamsoundsvid (Marlene Bellissimo) with warm vocal harmonies from http://@sparkydeathcap (RN Taylor) of Los Campesinos!
Long Neck’s http://twitter.com/longnecklass (Lily Mastrodimos) joined us on the podcast today to talk about the album, its influences, and the tender experience of writing and recording “Gardener” in particular. The Replacements with Tyler from The Tisburys

The Replacements with Tyler from The Tisburys

It's only taken us two and a half years, but we're finally doing our Replacements episode, and we've brought it one of our favorite people here at Left of the Dial–Tyler Asay of The Tisburys and Riverby–to help us out.
We're especially excited about this episode because a few weeks back, we had Tyler and the rest of the Tisburys in the studio to record a cover of The Replacements' "Left of the Dial," the song from which we, big surprise, take our show's title, and we get to share that with you today! We'll be using it as our theme song from now on, too!
It's a fantastic cover, featuring vocals from The Lunar Year's Katie Hackett. You can https://tisburys.bandcamp.com/ (buy it today on Bandcamp), and The Tisburys are donating all of the proceeds to abortion funds in Pennsylvania: abortionfundpa.org/donate, so you should definitely pick it up.
If you're listening to this episode the day it airs (Friday the 13th!), and you live in the Philly area, you can catch The Tisburys along with https://twitter.com/lunaryearband (The Lunar Year) and https://twitter.com/KateDressedUp (Kate Dressed Up) at http://www.dawsonstreetpub.com/ (Dawson Street Pub).

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem with Patrick Cotnoir

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem with Patrick Cotnoir

This week marks the official beginning of Andrea's most ambitious undertaking to date: book the little known indie darlings https://tvline.com/2022/03/07/the-muppets-mayhem-series-disney-plus-date-dr-teeth-janice/ (Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem) for a http://www.leftofthedial.fm/live/ (Left of the Dial studio session). And she's called in Muppet superfan Patrick Cotnoir (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH1XwfxXB--rl_Nqxvun8zQ (The George Lucas Talk Show), https://www.raaaatscraps.com/ (RAAAATSCRAPS), a million other cool things) to help.
https://twitter.com/patrickcotnoir (Follow Patrick on Twitter) where he is currently on a mission to get more followers than the cancelled NBC show, About A Boy.
In this episode Andrea read the quote, "For Teeth, it's always what feels right rather than what is correct." It's from the Muppets Crash Course series over at https://justforthehalibut.blog/2017/03/23/muppet-crash-course-the-electric-mayhem-part-1/ (Just for the Halibut).

Awesome Sauce!

I love NPR’s All Songs Considered and this podcast has a very similar vibe and design. The pacing is just right and it feels super organic with its conversational persona. Great job, Kitzy and Caleb!
