    55. Creating A Life You Love, Alcohol Free With @sarahrusbatch

"For decades we have been sold the idea that alcohol is our 'reward' at the end of a busy day. Not only do we use it to celebrate and commiserate, but we rely on it to relieve the stress and exhaustion of the daily grind - to help us switch off, switch on, numb emotions, enhance emotions and everything in between. We use it for self-care, for socialising, for time for ourselves." - Sarah Rusbatch

Over the past year or two, i've become increasingly more aware of the impact of alcohol in my own life and how we are role modelling and normalising drinking as part of life to our daughter Hazel. After deciding to stop drinking early in 2024, not long after I stumbled across Sarah's book, Beyond Booze, and was so compelled by her message - I had to invite her onto the podcast!

Sarah is a certified Women's Health and Wellbeing Coach, an accredited Grey Area Drinking Coach and a Key-Note speaker sharing her journey to sobriety and impact of alcohol on mental health to global audiences.

Beyond Booze will help you create a life you love so much that you no longer need to drink.

    We discussed:

    Grey area drinking
Jazz's experience with alcohol and increased anxiety and her decision to stop drinking alcohol
    Mummy wine culture
Role modelling and normalising alcohol as part of life to our children
How this shapes our children's relationship with alcohol as they get older
How to create a life you love without alcohol
Sarah's tips to help people drink less and how they can go about removing alcohol
Sarah's tips to create a life you love so you don't feel like you are missing out by choosing not to drink alcohol

    51. Returning To Exercise After Having A Baby With Rosie @hatched.house

    51. Returning To Exercise After Having A Baby With Rosie @hatched.house

It can feel a tad overwhelming (and a bit nerve wracking) returning to exercise after you have a baby.

    So where do we start?

How do we know what is safe?

Joining me to answer these questions is Rosie Purdue from Hatched House in Melbourne.

    Get to know Rosie:

Rosie is one of only a few physiotherapists in Australia with post-graduate qualifications in Pelvic Floor & Continence Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine. She is also a Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner and clinical Pilates instructor.

Rosie has a special interest in treating incontinence, prolapse, pelvic and sexual pain and her favourite; pre and postnatal exercise & sport. She is a published writer and has a paper Exercise After Pregnancy in the Australian Journal of General Practice.

Outside of her work, her family is her world. She plays hockey and likes to make ceramics.

    What we discussed:

What is Hatched House and where is the clinic located?
I know personally that I felt a bit nervous about getting back to exercise after birth, is this common?
What are some other common challenges women face when returning to exercise after having a baby?
What are 3 tips you’d give to a mother who's given birth recently who's keen to get back to exercise?
At what stage postnatally would your recommend a women see a pelvic health physio - and is it ideal for every women to see one postnatally?
Are there any particular types of exercise you’d recommend in that first 6-12 months post birth?
