    Growth Mindset

    Growth Mindset

I hope Season 2 gave you guys some insight into your journey’s and what you’re going through because we’re all connected and we all go through the same experiences but slightly different.

My journey of self discovery has been about rediscovering who I am and what I am capable of. I’ve spent a lot of time learning and observing myself. I’d discovered a lot of who I thought I was, was just what others placed on me and I believed to be me.

I’m at a point now where I feel like I'm in control of my life and understand myself more than I ever have.

I hope what I shared in the podcast this season highlighted the different ways you can discover who you truly are and also made the hardships that come with it seem less daunting knowing we all go through them.

Like I always say, we love our comfort zones, but life truly is about pushing past them and discovering new versions of ourselves.

Without even planning it I ended up sharing with you guys how to have a successful mindset. Scratching the surface at least, because it all starts with US.

I know without a doubt we all have it in us to be successful and abundant, not just materialistically but spiritually.

I don’t think a lot of us grew up being taught just how limitless our potential is, but i’m here to show you how to discover your power and live a happier life.

With all that being said I want to go over 4 successful mindsets that I hope I have encouraged others to have with a heart centered twist. It’s important to remember, if you’re heart centered and want to have a positive impact it will still be difficult. Everything will align as it is meant to, when we ourselves align as well.

Mindset No. 1: Start, Then Finish

Truly successful people are very careful about choosing what projects to work on. Their main focus is to follow through and finish what they start. You won’t see results or massive forward movement in your life and business if you never finish what you start.

Mindset No. 2: Go for Growth

Successful people focus on growth. A growth mindset arises from the belief that achieving success is about continuous, consistent improvement. If you focus on growth, you see success as a journey rather than a destination. This means you’re always open to learning and improving until you achieve your goals. Successful people are happy to keep trying until they get what they want. They’re willing to try all kinds of strategies and techniques because they know they’ll eventually get where they want to go. And they’re right.

Mindset No. 3: Develop a Positive Inner Belief

Check your negative beliefs at the door. Your beliefs influence your outer behaviors and actions, meaning you need to believe you can succeed before you actually do. When you have a strong will to succeed, you’ll naturally direct your focus toward solutions rather than problems. If your beliefs about yourself and your ability to hit your goals are negative, it’s almost impossible to achieve what you set out to do. Successful people avoid this pitfall because they can take forward actions that are consistent with their positive inner beliefs. They’re able to get up off the couch and take the right actions that help them become achievers.

    Mindset No. 4: Accept Yourself

Successful people understand who they are. They know their goals and dreams inside out. They know their values, their skills and their abilities. They are also incredibly clear about their weaknesses. They don’t try to be amazing at everything and they don’t try to be someone they’re not.

How To Identify & Overcome Limiting Beliefs

How To Identify & Overcome Limiting Beliefs

What are limiting beliefs - A limiting belief is something you believe to be true that limits you in some way. They can be about you, other people and the world.

When you age a list of rules that you should and shouldn’t do begin to be placed on you by your family, school, society. We begin to adopt these Brules (Bullshit rules) in order to simplify our understanding of the world) from the book Being Extraordinary is A Choice by Vishen Lakhiani CEO of Mind Valley

The rules that are placed on us turn into Limiting Beliefs and hold us back from our full potential.

Causes of Limiting Beliefs - Family Beliefs, Education, Experiences

Family Beliefs - Just like us our family members have values and morals and from a young age they instill them in us. They begin to tell you how both you and the world should be based on their own beliefs, education and experience. It’s important to remember that most of what others believe to be true is due to experience and those experiences have emotions attached to them, which automatically make the experience bias.

Education - because they’re in a position of authority and are constantly sharing information, ideas and beliefs about how the world works we are inclined to trust and believe that what they tell us is true.

Experience - Every time we experience something we draw our own conclusion about what happened as well as an emotion that is tied to it. We especially remember and cling to negative experiences. I did x and y happened, so z must be true.

How to Identify Limiting Beliefs - Time to assess yourself and use your self awareness to dig deep.

Identify Your Beliefs - before you find your limiting beliefs you need to figure out what your general beliefs are in the following categories, finances, family, relationships and health

Assess Your Behavior - If you look back on your toxic behaviors, you might find that the underlying cause is limiting beliefs.

Example: I find this happens a lot in relationships. If you’re always going through the other person's phone, you possess the limiting belief that no one can be trusted.

Write Down Areas Where You Feel Challenged - If you notice recurring challenges in a certain area of your life this could indicate a limiting belief. As you go through each challenge you have to make a note of which of your beliefs pertain to that challenge. If you’re always struggling to make enough money, uncover what you think about money and how accessible it is to you.

How to Overcome Limiting Beliefs - Challenge your beliefs by becoming the best version of you. Below are ways to help your process.

Change Your Habits - it’s not enough to just identify the limiting beliefs, you have to identify which habits keep you in that place/belief about yourself. If you change your habits, you proactively take yourself out of the belief.

Explore More - limiting beliefs keep you closed minded. In order to break that you have to get out, do and see more. Talk to people you wouldn’t normally, travel and experience different types of beliefs from around the world or from friends who come from different backgrounds.

Personal Development - Just like positive affirmations, you need to hear others speak in a positive light. You need to follow, read, listen to people who you aspire to become because it is possible you just have to put it in your radar by taking inspiration from others.

The following patterns are indicators of limiting beliefs Perfectionism, Procrastination, Escapism, Scarcity, Self Doubt, Fear of Failure

    Mental Toughness

    Mental Toughness

This episode is dedicated to Alex Zonio 11/13/88-9/14/2019

What is mental toughness & why do I think it’s so important to understand/have?

Whenever you’re doing something and your first instinct is to give up there’s a part of you, that you know well, that keeps you in the comfort zone & holds you back, allows you to give up, but there’s also this part of you, that you may not know as well, that knows you can.

Mental Toughness is digging deep for the part of you that knows you can and giving whatever you face your all, pushing past fear and comfort.

Zonio would always tell us mental toughness and always root us on even if it was just beer pong. We thought a lot of it came from being in the army and literally having to have mental toughness and breaking barriers without question or choice. Back then it was funny and annoying at times, but now I understand why it was one of his life mottos. Having the will to push past your limits is what is needed in order to survive and most other times, to grow.

We can only grow when we push past our perceived limits, our glass ceilings, our limiting beliefs, our log jams. Whatever you want to call it, growth is on the other side of doing something you’ve never done before.

About a year and a half into my journey of self discovery I finally started to understand what limiting beliefs are and how much they can take a toll on our growth. A lot of us tend to not think much of ourselves, for many reasons, but through my journey I learned the only cheerleader that will be standing on the sidelines every time is YOU and you alone.

You have to know what your fears are, what your beliefs about yourself are and where they come from and whether or not they’re really true or they are just that, beliefs. A lot of us have to see something in order to know it’s true and when you take a path less walked you don’t always have someone to turn to, you have to figure everything out yourself. It’s scary, it doesn’t make sense, but if you keep going you realize all you had to do was push, push past what you know and what you THINK you know.

Fear of the unknown holds us back, but on the other side of fear is freedom. It’s not easy to get to, but mental toughness is the segway. Knowing you can push past your boundaries and that the only result will be growth.

I want to close this out by saying mental toughness may sound machismo or masculine or insinuating that we should ignore our feelings, but that is never something I would promote. You should never ignore your feelings or push them aside or feel they are inferior. I wish I could tell Zonio that mental toughness can only get you so far during a rough time and it isn’t the answer to everything in life. I want to encourage anyone dealing with something they feel they cannot battle alone to reach out to someone whether it’s a friend/family or professional.
