122: Intentional Repetition
Do you sometimes feel like you can’t break away from the negative programming in your mind? Do you determine to do things differently, but then find yourself falling back into old, unwanted behaviors?
In today’s podcast, Karen talks with Kellie and Marquelle about the power of drills in creating new neural pathways in the brain so that doing what you WANT to do becomes natural.
Through intentional repetition, and including the use of the body with intensity, one can create powerful new pathways in the brain. Practicing your desired responses regularly, just like a musician, sportsman, or soldier does, actually changes the mind’s programming, thus changing your behavior.
These coaches are also finding that using the DPAR* can simplify this process. Listen in to see how to use this powerful new tool.
Learn how you can break free from negative habits and from Satan’s lies about who you are. It’s time to become “anxiously engaged in a good cause”** - your own well-being - and learn to truly change your mind!

121: Your Definite Purpose
Are you a miracle worker?
One of our coaches reported that one day she was in counsel with a beautiful young woman who was an extremely talented singer, had her own YouTube channel, and had a friendly, outgoing personality. The young woman said, ““I just feel like I don’t have a purpose.” She felt she should just give up trying.
What was wrong with that picture?
This young woman had been listening to the wrong voices. She needed to learn to recognize the good she was doing and could continue to do, one small step at a time, as she focused on the gifts and talents she’d been given and how they could bless her life and the lives of others. She needed to recognize she had a definite purpose - and it could become a passion project that would bring great fulfillment and greater joy.
In the book Like Dragons Did They Fight, author Maurice Harker states “...every temptation, every torment is designed to keep us from using our gifts and talents to do the small and simple things to bring about miracles.”
Yes. The adversary doesn't want us to realize it, but each one of us, if we discover our gifts and talents, and then work at developing them, can bring about miracles.
In the new Children and Youth program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson outlined 4 simple steps to begin the process. Maurice Harker calls it the DPAR process:
Discover - Begin thinking about and searching out those things that appeal to you and that you love to do, that could bless your life and the lives of others.
Plan - once you’ve spent some time discovering, make a plan to do something, even just in small steps, toward developing those interests and gifts.
Act - Then, most importantly, ACT! Do the thing you’d planned. Be aware - the first time - and maybe the first few times - it may not work out as you’d hoped. But don’t give up!
Reflect - This is when you think about your effort; rejoice about what went well; refine your plan and ways you’ll improve it, and then:
REPEAT!! Keep discovering, planning, and acting - and growing.
Listen in, and get excited about what you can discover as you create your own passion project - and bring about your own miracles!

118: Not Just Waiting To Receive
Hello and Welcome to the Like Dragons Did They Fight Podcast!
Today Karen Broadhead, director of Mothers Who Know, interviews Maurice Harker, director of Life Changing Services, on the need for giving connection and not waiting to receive it. Please join us as we go over the topics of connection, the power of LGBTQ members of the church, and supporting each other. We hope you enjoy this episode and feel the wonderful spirit of it!
Thank you Jennifer, for interviewing all these brave people. I have learned more in regards to my husbands addiction and truly appreciate the support here. Listening to Luke and Alana was my favorite episode so far because I got to hear both sides of the story and it was really validating to me what I’ve been through. So, thank you for making a difference in my life!
This stuff truly is life changing. Love what this company is doing and credit them with helping me change and turn my life and marriage around. Only feedback is I wish the audio quality were a little better. Sometimes it’s harder to hear what’s being said, even with headphones. Other than that, keep up the great work!
