Look to Love is a podcast from JL Gerhardt to help you read the Bible a better way—to see, know, and fall in love with God. Every week we read a passage of scripture, usually a chapter or so, (working our way from Genesis to Revelation) and ask the question, "Who is God?" We focus our attention on Him in hopes of seeing Him more clearly and ultimately loving Him more dearly. That's the point of everything, the Bible, our lives; we're here to love God with our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. So let’s open our Bibles and look to love.

Exodus 1 w/ Justin Gerhardt from Holy Ghost Stories: God, the Midwife

Exodus 1 w/ Justin Gerhardt from Holy Ghost Stories: God, the Midwife

In a departure from the usual, this episode features an interview with Justin Gerhardt from Holy Ghost Stories (my fave podcast) about Exodus chapter 1. In this episode: cheeky midwives, a Pharaoh God isn't willing to quit too soon, a pre-gospel, and seeing God as "person." You're going to love it!

Jonah, Micah, & Nahum: God, Who Relents

Jonah, Micah, & Nahum: God, Who Relents

Scripture never tires of reminding us of God's faithful, never-giving-up love and mercy. Here in Jonah we get an expansive vision and a playful spin on His for-everybody compassion. In this episode: salvation via being swallowed, love for the haters, gentleness Jonah didn't deserve, and a glimpse into the way God's been using this story to call me back to a holy assignment.

Hosea, Joel, Amos & Obadiah: God, Who Wants

Hosea, Joel, Amos & Obadiah: God, Who Wants

What does God want? And is it weird that GOD (the all-powerful source of everything) would have wants? Listen as we consider one way God is like us (or we're like Him). In this episode: the way of the minor prophets, forgetting God, and being remembered.

Daniel 2, God, Revealer of Mysteries

Daniel 2, God, Revealer of Mysteries

When you first met God Who did you know Him to be? What characteristic of His is the foundation of your experience and trust?

In this episode: an impossible challenge, a hopeful challenger, and a God Who lights up the hidden places. Plus, a look at how those initial moments of connection with God shape our relationship with Him going forward AND what to do if you feel like God is definitely not revealing mysteries to you.

Ezekiel 16: God, the Cuckholded Husband

Ezekiel 16: God, the Cuckholded Husband

Sometimes we simply refuse to return to God. Who is He when that happens? In this episode: a baby writhing in blood, a salvation & transformation story, a terrible turn involving a lot of promiscuity, and one more chance. Plus, did you know God carries Ezekiel around by his hair?!

Lamentations 3: God, Like an Enemy

Lamentations 3: God, Like an Enemy

Who is God to you when your home's been burned down, when your children are starving, when the people you hate are victorious, when your neighbors are literally eating their babies? In this episode: an unflattering perspective, heartache-colored metaphors, and a God who looks different depending on where you're standing.

Very encouraging!

I really appreciate how the author brings notice to the character of God, and most notably His lovingkindness, in all the familiar passages of scripture. It is a most refreshing way to read scripture. Thank you for your ongoing effort to teach us how to look to love. -loript5893

Love!

I love how she takes a different look at scriptures we are so familiar with, all to see God’s love. I highly recommend!

A different POV

She brought a different way to view God. It helps me to understand the Scriptures in a more meaningful and personal way.
