Charleen Meyer, MA, LMFT, ATR, SEP is a licensed marriage and family therapist, art therapist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in the Beach Cities area of Los Angeles. Charleen has always been a lover of the arts, from dance and performance art to visual art, since childhood. She studied drawing and painting at SFSU, where she earned her bachelor degree and re-experienced the therapeutic value of the art making process. Once she discovered that there is a profession that incorporated her love of art making with her passion for helping others, she went on to attend graduate school at LMU, where she earned her masters degree in marital and family therapy, specializing in clinical art therapy. Charleen has over ten years of experience working with teens and adults in residential, outpatient, addiction treatment, and private practice settings. Her holistic philosophy about wellness led her to become certified in a mind-body treatment approach called Somatic Experiencing as well as training in EMDR. Connection is the joyful foundation of her personal and professional life. When Charleen is not making art with clients or her community, she is busy making art with her two children, weight training, and adventuring in nature.
