The beauty business is a numbers business.

Working backward

Start with the end in mind.

What goal do you have

Is it to increase your sales by a percentage or a dollar amount? Hook it to something tangible. Christmas is around the corner, and maybe you need $1000 for Christmas gifts and outings. What can you do today so that by December first, you have the money?

What do you do with your money?

Are you setting aside a certain amount weekly that you do not touch

How much are you willing to stash away for a rainy day or an investment like a house, or maybe you want to go on a two-week trip to a different country. Perhaps it is college for you kids.

If you set aside $100 of your tip money a week for five years, you would have $26,000. What would that do for you? It's the latte factor here. That daily coffee is costing you over time.

Work intensionally

Think about all the ways you can add value to client experience

List out all the services you offer

What products excite you

What are you promoting

Test out your dialogue

"Would you like a conditioning treatment?"

OR

"Today, we are offering $10 deep moisturizing treatments after your color; we can do that at the shampoo bowl!"

Retail is another way to get you closer to your goal

Select the retail you love

Do your homework

Features and Benefits
What are the talking points

Words paint a picture.

Track your yes, and no's. Keep what is working and toss what isn't

Another area to track is marketing efforts.

When was the last time you received a review or a referral? What can you do to shake up your business and generate new leads? Reinvent yourself if you are not satisfied with your results

Look at what you have done in the past behind the chair

Let's say you saw an average of 10 people a week. If you wanted to make an additional $1000 take home in two months and earn 40% commission on services, you would need to do an extra $2500 in services.

Do you make a retail commission? For example, say you earn 20% commission on retail. You would need to bring in $2500 in retail extra a month from what you usually do.

OR IF YOU Sell retail also your goal would be $312.50 a week in retail (shampoo and conditioner average $52 (6 sets of product)

So let's say your goal is to do an extra $2000 in services in two months or about eight weeks.

Break it down further $250 extra a week in services if you saw an average of 10 clients that's $25 additional in-services per person
