Maria Bartiromo: Blazing a trail and staying true to her core (Episode 123‪)‬ She Said / She Said

    • Careers

A legend in the world of business news for more than three decades, Maria Bartiromo has covered every major story since the early 1990s. She’s won two Emmys, a Gracie, and countless other awards for her work. Currently, she is anchor and Global Markets Editor at FOX Business.

A true trailblazer, she was the very first person — man or woman — to broadcast live from the floor of the NYSE. She tells me what that was like and how she managed to not only survive bullies and abuse, but to thrive and find her true calling.

One particular theme that I loved and think you will too is her advice on “owning your career” whatever path you choose, and taking responsibility for it.  She talks about how to do that, and the importance of standing up for yourself.

We also talk about:

* mentorship and what to do when your mentor gives you bad advice;

* the importance of adaptability;

* how she really felt about the NY Post-inspired “Money Honey” moniker;

* how we should be thinking about the financial implications of COVID;

* China;

* Her perspective on the media;

* Her new book “The Cost: Trump, China and American Revival,” (which will release on October 27th, but you can pre-order here);

* Her views on the past four years;

* and so much more!

If you aren’t currently subscribed to She Said/She Said Podcast, please do so! I don’t want you to miss a single episode. With every conversation, my guests and I talk about how she’s created opportunities for herself and how she’s working to do the same for others. I know your time is valuable, but I think what you hear on this podcast will make it worth it. I would love to know what you think. Please send me a note! And, if you really like an episode, I’d be so grateful for a nice review on Itunes. xo
