Catching up with Olympic journalist and longtime wrestling fan Maggie Hendricks
In niche sports journalism, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and storytelling are key to success. On the latest episode of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, host Jason Bryant catches up with longtime wrestling friend and fellow scribe Maggie Hendricks, who currently covers a number of sports for Olympics.com. The Chicago native has previously covered college and Olympic sports, wrestling, MMA and a bevy of others at outlets like Yahoo, USA Today and Ballys Sports. She was in State College covering the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Initially friends via the message boards, The two talk about their lives crossing paths via the internet wrestling world, covering events, strengths and backgrounds in covering niche sports. Hendricks also shares her experiences from covering women’s sports, which also battles for screen time and mainstream media attention just like wrestling and what may be helpful to grow wrestling in the media like we have seen with NCAA softball and women’s basketball. You can find Hendricks on the socials @maggiehendricks.

What a great tribute. ODU65
This episode came up after an interview with J Robinson. I would normally skip an episode like this because I’m not familiar with the subject matter. I’m glad I didn’t. It was so well put together and interesting that I listened with great interest. What a great tribute.
Missing the old hour long podcast
Wish Jason Bryant was still doing his weekly 1+ long podcast. short ones just not cutting it.
