Getting better each episode
Yes, you can enjoy listening to other people play Dungeons & Dragons. While this podcast may lack in technical flourishes, the four players/DM involved have a good chemisty.
The things that make this podcast enjoyable to me are:
1) While three of the four players are familiar with a range of previous D&D editions, they are all relatively new to 5th edition. The fourth is completely new to d20 style games; though I infer he has played some other RPG's. (They may have specifically mentioned this, but my sieve-like memory fails me.) As I have no current experince with 5th ed., this makes the podcast a learning experience for me as well.
2) They are playing in a homebrew world, including monsters, but one that seems to have a pretty well established base. (From a previous campaign? From the world setting of Rattlebox Games Cromlech boardgame? Idk.) As a fan of world-creation, I'm exploring a new, dangerous, setting with the players.
and 3) The characters got their start in a game of Fiasco before they were translated into D&D. This established the campaign as being ripe for dark humor, which suits my particular tastes.
Don't give up on this podcast too early - it is improving with each episode, as both the players and I are getting used to what is going on.
Great podcast!
I enjoy listening to this podcast because I love how the characters learn about the town and area around them, and contribute and add to the culture. I like how casual it is, but also how the plot is complex yet easy to follow.
