    In This Episode
Tonight we were joined in studio by John Sonnhalter, the Founder of Ohio Industrial Advertising dba Sonnhalter (www.sonnhalter.com), a B2T marketing firm specializing in helping companies who target professional trances men in the construction, industrial and MRO markets.  Of course the last name is familiar as John is Adam’s father and the one who started all this entrepreneurship in the Sonnhalter family!
During the show John talked about everything from starting the company from his bedroom to growing both through organic growth as well as acquisitions.  John also provided some great insights into how to successfully work with your spouse and keep your marriage strong as well.
In addition to having a successful business and marriage, he also successfully transitioned ownership of the business to his son and has made a nice transition into the next stage of his life which is far from “retirement”!  So much to fit into an hour show!

Business Plans – What Are They and Do You Need One (Part 2)

Business Plans – What Are They and Do You Need One (Part 2)

    In This Episode
So we had so much fun talking about business plans last week that we only got about halfway through what we wanted to cover.  This week we shared the rest of the story when it comes to business plans.
Last week we covered a lot of the frustrations we see with business owners and business plans.  What do they mean?  When are they needed?  We also went in depth into MVP’s 3 Circles to help frame how to think about your business in a more simple way when starting to pull together your business plans.
Tonight we dove head first into the 7 Keys which is the meat of any good business plan.  We shared several examples for what each of the 7 Keys should include and how to get them into your business.  Thanks for listening and enjoy!

Business Plans – What Are They and Do You Need One (Part 1)?

Business Plans – What Are They and Do You Need One (Part 1)?

    In This Episode
We hear all the time from frustrated small business owners who say all they need is a business plan.  When we ask them why, it’s usually based on them hearing that from a bunch of people who ask them what their plan is for the business.  What does this even mean?
Early on in MVP we even avoided using the “P” word with business owners because we thought we’d lose them and we weren’t sure what they were hearing when they heard the word “Plan”.  We quickly learned it was better not to avoid the word Plan idea altogether but instead we had to redefine what a plan looks like.
Enter the 3 Circles and 7 Keys To Success to help frame this question.  We wanted to get business owners away from thinking they need to pull together a 50-page business plan with all kids of pie charts and graphs.  Unless you’re going out to raise money you don’t need this type of formalized business plan.
During the show tonight we delved into how to pull together a functioning business plan for your business and shared several success stories for how this has helped our coaching clients.  Enjoy!

Family Business Issues – When Is It Time To Leave? (Part 1)

    In This Episode
Family can be a blessing and a curse.  That’s true whether you are talking about real life or your business.  At times we can become too “familiar” with each other.  Usually when that happens with family in the business we will overlook things that we wouldn’t otherwise overlook in our employees or business partners who aren’t family.  Too often, it comes to the point where someone needs to leave.  So what do you do?
Some of the questions we addressed tonight include:

How do I tell my mom to stop coming to work?
How do I tell my brother I can’t work with him any more?
How do I treat all my kids equally and not play favorites?

We also shared several real-world stories for how these questions and issues have been addressed both successfully and not so successfully.  Enjoy!

Alex Gertsburg Owner of The Gertsburg Law Firm

    In This Episode
We are joined in studio by Alex Gertsburg, owner of The Gertsburg Law Firm (https://www.gertsburglaw.com), a law firm that is quite unlike other law firms you’ve encountered.  In fact, The Gertsburg Law Firm is the result of lessons Alex learned earlier in his career working for a combination of big law firms and then going in house where he had to hire outside counsel.  In short, Alex couldn’t find the right firm to work for or hire so he created it!
Would you believe there are attorneys who are responsive (i.e. they get back to you in 24 hours or less), focus on value-based vs. hourly billing, and attorneys who invite their clients to reduce their bills? Almost sounds too simple and too good to be true.
So yes, Alex is a lawyer who can relate to other business owners who have had bad lawyer experiences and Alex shared several of those experiences on the show tonight including firing attorneys.  During the show tonight Alex shared several reasons why he believes most lawyers aren’t able to connect properly with clients and why things are a mess with how people hire their attorneys.
Alex and his team also have a unique approach to business law with CoverMySix (https://covermysix.com) which is focused on protecting your business from the six plaintiffs who can sue or investigate your company: customers, vendors, owners, employees, competitors, and the government. He also chatted about a few of his podcasts: The Best Podcast Ever, Mind Your Cannabusiness, GLF Legal Talks.  We think you’ll really enjoy this fresh approach to the legal field!
