I am always excited to hear MEN IN BLAZERS on MORNING JOE. Then I learned to follow your podcasts. 1st, your memoir and love of America is one of the finest coming of age stories. I was an educator for 40 years and know that I would use your story if I were still working. 2nd, thanks for your expanded commentary on BAND OF BROTHERS. I am watching an episode per night and it reminded me of my youth studying WII in school. Your take on the human decision making and the cost, the good and bad gives me hope in this time. As a young person (in the 60’s) I learned that I hoped that I would have hidden Anne Frank, fought the impulse to accept hate, injustice. No one knows what one would do and what courage one could muster up. At 17, I read CHILD OF OUR TIME by Michel Del Castillo, a French writer who survived his childhood in a concentration camp. I learned about what values made me care. Listening to you reminds me in my 70’s that I still believe in the goodness of caring and the struggle of the human heart in conflict with itself that helps us do the right thing and come out the right side of any heroes journey. Many thanks for adding to my life as an aged person.
Rog, you have done it again!!! I am only about halfway through the first episode of your Band of Brother podcast series and it is PURE GOLD! Thanks, and keep the content coming!
MiB has gotten me through tough times personally, professional and especially through my fandom! Thank you both so much. Without you two in 2020 the pandemic would have been intolerable. Courage.
