    46. Building a Multi-Million Dollar Allergy-Friendly Food Company with Denise Woodard, Founder of Partake Foods

    46. Building a Multi-Million Dollar Allergy-Friendly Food Company with Denise Woodard, Founder of Partake Foods

Moms are always trying to solve problems, especially when it comes to helping your own children, so when Denise Woodard’s daughter Vivienne was diagnosed with a laundry list of food allergies it inspired her to take an entrepreneurial route she never imagined!
Denise Woodard is the Founder/CEO of Partake Foods, an allergy-friendly snack company that she was inspired to start because of her daughter Vivienne's experience with food allergies.
With so little options in the market for delicious healthy allergy-friendly snacks for kids, Denise, who had a background working in emerging brands for Coca-Cola and a scrappy entrepreneurial spirit decided, why not make a product for her daughter herself.
After many cookie iterations, lots of LinkedIn stalking and a little luck, that vision has turned into a multi-million dollar allergy-friendly food company that will be in 5,500 stores by the end of 2021. On top of that success, Denise is the first woman of color to raise over $1 million for a food startup which includes a $4.8 million series A funding round in December 2020, led by investors including Rihanna and Marcy Venture Partners, Jay-Z’s firm who led the initial $1MM seed round.
I love how Denise not only took a real problem in her own family but also created a company that strongly believes in a greater social mission and is giving more women and people of color the opportunity to “partake” at the table too. But besides building a company and being a role model for other women of color, Denise is an incredible mom and shares insights into how she was able to build this company, raise capital and make it happen while raising her daughter.

    45. Fueled by Food: Turning a Passion into a Product with Eunice Byun, Co-Founder and CEO of Material

    45. Fueled by Food: Turning a Passion into a Product with Eunice Byun, Co-Founder and CEO of Material

Today’s guest is Eunice Byun, the CEO and co-founder of Material, a company that celebrates home cooks and their desire for good-looking, high-performing products.
But only a few years ago Eunice was working her way up in the retail industry with a successful career at some of the top brand names in NYC. But her passion for design mixed with a love for food and inspired by her Korean-American family background in restaurants led her down a path to starting Material with her co-founder Dave… after she already had her first kid.
Eunice is now the mom to two young girls, a five year-old and a 1 year old.
I love how Eunice incorporates her eldest into the business and leads by example, showing her daughter that she doesn’t have to conform to any societal norms or parental pressures and that she can pursue whatever she has the passion to do in life.
But I hope this also inspires you to also pursue that passion in your life. If you go to sleep thinking about an idea and wake up thinking about that same idea - it might be the sign of something you were destined to pursue.

    44. Scaling a Business and Building a Global Community for Working Moms with Katya Libin, CEO of HeyMama

For most moms with babies, you meet another mom at the park or in a mommy and me class and then you form a friendship or start a mom tribe in which you do wine nights or play dates, but it’s rarely the case that a chance encounter because your kids leads to a life changing business venture.
However, that was the case for Katya Libin, the co-founder & CEO of HeyMama, a membership community that connects working moms at every stage of life and career.
HeyMama has over 3,200+ members (me included) and creates opportunities for their members to bring their whole selves while advancing their careers.
Honestly, for me HeyMama has been one of the best communities and investments I have ever made… and trust me, I don’t get any sort of referral or affiliate for this, but because of HeyMama I have met so many incredible working moms, many of which have now been on the podcast and more of them to come.
This community that Katya and her co-founder Amri founded back in 2014 has grown into a diverse online and in-real life (when there isn’t a pandemic) community that gives moms the platform to provide each other with support, connection, and collaboration in life and business.
In this episode, we talk about life with a blended family, how she includes her daughter in everything, favorite binge worthy TV shows, spiritual work, having a co-founder to tips for entrepreneurs just starting out right now.

    42. A New Career Path for Moms & Disrupting the Fintech Industry with Samantha Ettus, Founder of Park Place Payments

Samantha Ettus is a mom of 3, a Harvard undergrad and MBA graduate, bestselling author including “The Pie Life: A Guilt Free Recipe for Success and Satisfaction” and more recently the Founder and CEO of Park Place Payments.
In her spare time, she also co-hosts a podcast with Amy Nelson from the Riveter called “What’s Her Story with Sam and Amy, " where they bring on incredibly accomplished women to learn all about their story. Some of their guests include Melinda Gates, Sallie Krawcheck, Marcia Cross, and Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach (to name drop a few).
Samantha is also the guru and expert on how to thrive professionally and personally, and I was excited to dive into what it looks like behind the scenes and how the pie life has shifted for her in 2020.
Her new venture Park Place Payments is a women founded and run fintech company that is changing the way financial services are sold to independent businesses.
They are on a mission to disrupt the payment and credit card processing industry by bringing it the trust, pricing clarity, and white glove customer service every business deserves.
And to do this, they start with an honest analysis of your business and your current solution and you are given the power to decide if it makes sense to switch. The result is the highest customer retention and satisfaction rate in the industry.

    41. Biohacking Breastmilk and Launching a Startup with Dr. Stephanie Canale, Founder of Lactation Lab

Dr. Stephanie Canale is a family medicine physician and professor and the founder of Lactation Lab, a company on a mission to help empower women with data to be their best selves and help their children thrive by taking the guessing out of breastfeeding and biohacking milk.
After practicing medicine for many years, Dr. Stephanie has traded the doctor life for the startup life while raising her two kids.
Besides all the information I learned about breastmilk from Dr. Stephanie, I found it so inspiring that she left an established medical practice to join a startup accelerator to pursue her passion in helping moms.
So even if you aren’t breastfeeding or don’t really want to learn about breastmilk, tune in because she talks all about her journey launching her startup and the challenges with fundraising.

Mommy’s On A Call is so refreshing

Finally a podcast that pulls back the curtain on how we mamas really feel about motherhood, work-life, being a wife and how to manage it all. Thanks for the transparency!
