“Open Relationship” is a play on words referring to Mo'Nique's announcement to publications that she and her husband of close to 10 years, Sidney Hicks, have an Open Relationship. Though the real intent behind her statement refers to their long history together, their Open-Minded Relationship simply means that something like an extra-marital affair wouldn't be a deal breaker to their marriage. They build upon the public discussions surrounding this concept to explore the openness and communication that is necessary for us all to have better relationships with others, in anything including Open Relationships, Falling in Love, Discussing Sex with Our Children, and everything in between. As Mo'Nique & Sidney would say, "The mind is like a parachute; it’s no good unless it's open.”

Unapologetically Realness

I love how she says what she means with passion and heart. To speak what the majority of the people are thinking, but doesn’t possess the courage to do so.

This show is ridiculous

Wow, I tell you—its a shame there is no option for zero stars. Mo’Nique is her own worst enemy. She is the sole reason as to why she doesn’t have a career. I don’t know why people keep saying her husband ruined her career. Last time I checked, Mo’Nique is a grown woman who’s perfectly able to make her own decisions. It was her choice to make her non-experienced husband her manager because in her OWN words she said: “I had the big, white Hollywood agent.” And basically that she was screwed over by said agent. Okay I believe her, Hollywood does have a tendency to mistreat people of color. But at the same time this is nothing new. It’s not show friends it’s show business. Hollywood isn’t fair to a lot of people. Knowing your worth is important, especially for those of us who want to branch off into the entertainment business. But the type of demands that Mo’Nique was making was downright ridiculous. She signed up to do precious for fifty thousand dollars. And she said she didn’t at the time care because she loved the story and was doing it for her friend Lee Daniels. Okay well you can’t then say that Lee Daniels owes you money. Correct me if I’m wrong but did Mo’Nique and her foolish husband ask for money on the backend in their contract? The answer is NO. This goes to show that Mo’Nique and that husband of hers don’t know a thing about the film industry. Anybody who is actually knowledgeable about Hollywood would know that you can’t sign a contract, then take the money and comeback later and say you want extra money. Yes it’s true precious was made on a ten million dollar budget and the movie made sixty-three million dollars. Mo’Nique is not entitled to any of that money. The truth is nobody knew that Precious was going to make that much money. It was a low budget independent film that was in obscurity despite it premiering at Sundance Film Festival. It was only when Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry got involved that the movie gained traction with the help of rave reviews from critics. That being said Mo’Nique is lying about being owed money for precious. And why hasn’t anyone asked Mo’Nique that if Lee Daniels owe you money pertaining to precious, WHY ON EARTH HAVE YOU NOT TAKEN THIS MAN TO COURT!? Mo’Nique had all the smoke for Netflix but not Lee Daniels? Yeah, you not suing Lee Daniels because he doesn’t owe you a thing. As for the never ending rants about Oprah, Lee and Tyler, I am sick of it. These three individuals have been living rent free in this lady’s head for over a decade. Even if those three people have done harm to Mo’Nique, her inability to move on is destructive to her mental health. Because all I see is a angry, damaged woman. Instead of focusing so much negative energy on these three people, actually use all that energy for something like reviving your non-existent career. But Mo’Nique won’t she’s too busy stewing in toxicity. As I said if those three people truly screwed you over, the best revenge is success. And by doing that is not sitting on a raggedy podcast spouting negativity. All that determination in “exposing” Oprah, Tyler and Lee could be used scouting for actual film talent such as directors, screenwriters and producers to work with. Start up your own production company and eventually take small steps to have your own studio. You producing that movie Blackbird is not a good step in the right direction. It wasn’t a good movie and it’s not even close to Barry Jenkins brilliantly directed drama Moonlight. Align yourself with great Directors and screenwriters. That is the only way Hollywood would welcome you back. But by all means continue to complain and demand apologies from people who don’t care about you. Because at the end of the day Oprah and Tyler are living their best billionaire lives while you go on about how terrible they are. Now I will say Tyler should have never told you that he would put in a good word for you. Mo’Nique did you actually believe that he would? I mean come on he wasn’t going to throw his friend Oprah under the bus to restore you to good standing in Hollywood. That was shady on his part. In fact what Oprah did to you regarding your family was shady as well. Lee Daniels even has shady ways about himself, I agree but you need to let it go. Sometimes in life you’ll never get the type of closure you want from people that wronged you. That doesn’t mean you can’t move on and forgive them for yourself. All you’re doing is poisoning yourself with all this negative energy.
