Awesome, even for non-Mormons!
I am definitely not the intended audience for this podcast. I’m not a Mormon, not an ex-Morman, don’t have family who are Mormon. I don’t live in an area with a high Mormon population - and yet, I find this podcast so interesting! The hosts are great. Listening to them talk, you just feel like you’re friends with them. Audio quality is awesome, production is solid. And, I always feel like I learn something in every episode about another culture. Definitely don’t hesitate to listen, regardless of your religious affiliation!
So relatable, so much exmo fun!
Being Mormon, and then leaving Mormonism… It’s hard to really understand unless you’ve been through it. I LOVE listening to Meg and Lena. It feels like catching up with two friends who just completely get it. (I live in Virginia, so there aren’t tons of ex-Mormons here. I crave that connection with other exmos.) I also love that they were both missionaries! I never went on a mission, so getting that insight has been so much fun. I’ve listened to every episode, and I can’t wait until the next one drops!

I’ve been exmo for 10 years and feel mostly recovered, so I don’t consume as much exmo content as I used to. I listened to the Planets & PTSD episode on a whim because it’s both sad and entertaining to me that TSCC is backpedaling on their whole “you get a planet, you get a planet!” thing. But I just listened to the part where you talk about feeling ridiculously guilty for denying someone’s request for a ride. And it hit me like a brick wall because I often feel SO guilty about the most minor things, like even smaller things than that. It becomes a huge problem when setting very reasonable boundaries or doing anything besides the most people-pleasing option makes you feel extreme guilt. I guess I have some more healing to do. Anyway, thank you for talking about something so relatable. I really like your podcast, and I’m rooting for you both in your healing from the cult journeys!
