⭐ "Powerful & funny & important, MDSML is a special & wonderful podcast! I’m so grateful for the stories that have been shared and to Lauren Deborah for creating such a meaningful and needed space for them."

⭐ "This podcast has charm and laughs!"

⭐ "This podcast is amazing, I’ve learned so much confidence and strength from the guests."

🌈 As seen live at Vancouver Pride, iHeart Podcast spotlight features and Elizabeth Bank’s WHOHAHA’s featured podcasts.

Lauren Deborah (she/they) never had the 'coming out' they had their heart set on (the dramatic kind), as when she claimed she was ready, her Dad came out first…stealing Lauren's limelight. Lauren has since grown up and realized the world doesn't revolve around them (most days) and everything happens as it should.

In each episode, Lauren sits down with someone to delve into their coming out journey, sometimes with a cameo from someone they came out to like their parents, BFFs, co-workers, partners, or exes.

Listen along for amusing, relatable, and heartwarming conversations that normalize (and give a big hug to) every person's experiences and feelings coming out. We discover more about our most authentic selves each week and find ourselves being more visibly, comfortably, and wonderfully queer.

Past guests include drag sensations Jerrilynn Spears, Amy Grindhouse and Rogue, comedians Katie-Ellen Humphries, Andrew Johnston, Andrea Jin, Al Val, and Eman El-Husseini, novelist and theatremaker Curtis Campbell, producer and writer Jason T. Gaffney, host of You Made Me Queer Trevor Campbell and Australian Idol's Jasey Fox.

    Tom Smithson on Inviting In

    Tom Smithson on Inviting In

In this episode, I sit with a Writer and Therapist, who specialises in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, Tom Smithson (he/him).

We discuss the faith that it gets better, Tom’s book that he is writing due for release in 2025, that there is no one way to come out, how what a therapist looks like can affect how much we share with them, the many ways in which Tom finds his work meaningful, and the idea of ‘inviting in’ as an alternative to ‘coming out’.

Eve Parker Finley on healing through creative outlets

Eve Parker Finley on healing through creative outlets

I am honoured that my guest on this episode is comedian and musician Eve Parker Finley (she/her). We talk about the role of her art in her coming out and her emotional well-being. A behind-the-scenes note is that I kept trying to write the show notes for this episode and instead just got distracted multiple times watching clips of Eve performing because she is PURE JOY!

    In this episode:
-Eve discusses how she has used music and comedy to figure out who she wants to be!
-We hear the process and discovery behind the first song Eve ever wrote!
-Using gender as a metaphor for other things is a thing Eve loves to do in her music and writing!
-We hate the relationships we have been in where we have forgotten who we are, but the comeback from those? It is the most powerful thing!
-Eve wrote a song for her parents and played it to them as her coming out!
-It’s okay to not know. It’s okay to not have it figured out. None of us have anything figured out!
-We each share three songs from our crying playlists with each other and let me tell you, nothing feels like more of a bonding moment than that!
-Taking scary plunges towards what sets our soul on fire is brave and beautiful! Eve shared her journey and it is gorgeous!
-Growing up means growing more confident and out of our “No worries if not!” phase and we love that for us!
-SHOUTOUT therapy! Always! Our longest and strongest relationships!

GenderMeowster (they/them) loves Lauren Deborah (she/her)

Lauren! How are you so talented and great?! This show is a wonderful reflection of so many happy queer adult stories. Lauren is humorous, and her guests are incredible. I love the three guidelines at the beginning of each episode. The laughter and energy in the show is a treat to listen to. Thank you for making this show and I can’t wait for even more episodes! Hot tip to new listeners, check out season 1 episode 1 and the. Season 3 episode 1 for super cute Lauren-and-Dad action. 🥹🔥🌈
