20 - The "True Myth" and Messiah Figures In Media

On the April 2024 episode, Austin & Jacob do a little deep dive and discussion into the new movie Dune Part 2. WARNING! There ARE spoilers to the movie in this episode! Austin posits that this movie has a lot of parallels to the story of Jesus (and many differences) and that it might be a good way to open conversations about Christ with people since it is such a huge cultural movie right now. There is also some brief post-Easter chat at the beginning. We hope everyone had a happy Easter yesterday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

    18 - Ministering In Ireland w/David & Tricia Howell

On the Feb. 2024 episode of the Northwest Yearly Meeting podcast host Austin Way (South Salem Friends) has an interview with David and Tricia Howell who are Evangelical Friends Missionaries in Ireland. According to Operation World, Ireland has an evangelical population of around 1.6%, which is the lowest percentage of any country in the English-speaking world. Since their arrival in Ireland in 2008, the Howells have shared the message of grace, hope, and peace with a people they now consider friends. It is their desire to create a place to worship where anyone can come and seek after the heart of a loving Father.

David & Tricia are currently on deputation and are back in the states until May 2024 raising support. You can click here to learn more about the Howell's and their work in Ireland: https://catalog.friendsmission.com/campaign/efm-ireland-or-the-howell-family/c203067

    17 - Friends Summit 2023 Opening Message w/Denae Warren

    17 - Friends Summit 2023 Opening Message w/Denae Warren

Happy New Year! This isn't the typical format for the podcast, but December is such a busy month. Between Christmas Eve services, Christmas, traveling to visit family, Austin taking a vacation, and Jacob heading to Houston for Friends Summit 2023 there just wasn't time to record our typical episode. While at the Friends Summit conference we got to hear from 7 different main session speakers from Friends Churches across the continent. The opening message was given by Denae Warren of Star, ID. Denae has been active in Northwest Yearly Meeting in many different capacities. So while this message wasn't specifically given for the listeners of this podcast, we are sure you will get something from it if you take the time to listen. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

    16 - Christmas & Consumerism

On the December 2023 episode of the NWYM Podcast, hosts Austin and Jacob talk about the ideas of balancing consumerism around Christmas with the ideas of simplicity and balance. Not exactly the typical conversation people are trying to have around the holiday season, but it is something that we think a lot of people wrestle with as they want to celebrate the birth of our Savior all while we try to buy gifts and go to Christmas parties.

15 - EFM Greece Trip Update w/Josiah Muhr & Leisa Boles

15 - EFM Greece Trip Update w/Josiah Muhr & Leisa Boles

For the November 2023 episode, as Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM) is celebrating their 60th Anniversary with a banquet being hosted in Portland, OR, we decided to interview a couple who recently went on one of the Luke 10 Trips with EFM. For those who don't know, EFM has been trying to identify and select 5 new mission fields with the goal to have 10 new missionary families established in those fields by the end of 2025. Greece was one of the locations that has been considered by EFM. Josiah Muhr and Leisa Boles (engaged to be married soon) went on the trips and are here on this episode to share about what it was like and what a potential future mission field in Greece would consist of.

Please be praying for EFM as they prayerfully consider which of their 10 fields will become future mission fields. Consider donating to EFM and becoming a financial support for this important organization!

Lovin’ it!

I’m a bit partial to this Podcast, as my wife and I have been featured on it, but I do tune in most months to listen to it! Always great conversations, and great insight to the Evangelical Friends Movement, I hope Jacob and Austin keep it up! Thanks for doing this guys!

Men in the Church

“Show up and step up.” I agree with what you both said, Jacob and Kevin. When it’s the truth of God, when we raise the bar, I believe men will step up to meet it.

Good stuff, keep it up!

Simple, good and fun contribution to the Friends dialogue

I am excited about what is happening within Evangelical Friends all over the world. To hear and listen to how God is working amongst NWYM is very good indeed.

I would enjoy some deeper dives into what Friends believe, what missions points you are focusing on currently and how you are seeing God at work in your area and in co-denominational moves of God. It is so fun to hear that God is working in all Bible believing churches!

Keep asking questions, keep leaning into scripture and keep looking for solid voices that can contribute to the move of the Holy Spirit!
