310: On the seventh day she rested

I have been gone for so long.  This episode is my attempt to jump back in the saddle and to re-introduce frequent visitor Trenace Richardson as the new co-host of the podcast.
I'm excited still to do this podcast but the truth is, this is exhausting work.  I became exhausted from being still so hurt and emotional about the whole thing, the loneliness that ensues, feeling like I am a champion of people and I wanted and needed a champion for Ree-Ree.
Having one of my children express wanting to die and having Nyles say he didn't believe it... I've been in a rabbit hole y'all. A messy rabbit hole and I don't see a bottom.  But look on the brightside, I've been looking like I'm feeling great most days! There's that.....

    I. Am. The. Wife

    I. Am. The. Wife

I'm not in a good place.  It took me a while to get this episode done. I recorded the episode in May on a day I had been really, really, low.  I don't even remember what it was about. So I apologize in advance for my editing!
In this volume, I am talking with Jo.  Jo is the wife behind a blog and podcast titled I. Am. The. Wife.  She started it to deal with the immense pain she felt after her husband betrayed her while she kept up their home in children in England and he was away with the military.
Her husband was brave enough, disciplined enough, to finally end the affiar and attend counseling. But she shares candidly how hard healing has been. How invasive the thoughts are.
This is only a part of the interview. I plan to share in a fuure episode!

    308: It's time To Retreat

Have you ever done something that you knew for sure was a part of your destiny? Something that represented God's will for your life as you knew it, but it wasn't easy?  That conference kicked my butt! So I reached out to Dr. Kenae Black.  SHe is convening a retreat at the end of June called the Will of Wellness.  I watned to talk to her about the retreat and her experience on how heavy it is to carry purpose from God.

    307: Mother's Day

    307: Mother's Day

    LONG EPISODE ALERT!!!!
I do not enjoy Mother's Day anymore.
There's the fact that I've had six children with a man who from the day he left, has never ackwleged me.
It's the fact that I have a daughter who doesn't speak to me and a mother in law who also abandoned me and has chosen to welcome a mistress as her daughter-in-law.
What if this were her mother that her father abandoned?
I decided to share more of the story of becoming pregnant with my first daughter and how I was treated as well as more on the deterioriation of the realtionship with my mother-in-law. It is a deterioriation my daughter and her son spearheaded and left me holding the bag.
As you listen to my motherhood story keep in mind that as we fight to maintain a woman's Pro Choice rights, they don't expire.  Nyles actually wrote in a court document that the entire problem was "she was supposed to have an abortion". Snake.

Knock Knock...Who’s There? Part 1

This was such an authentic conversation and hearing such various perspectives about loneliness was refreshing. I love how this discussion is so universal and it’s tackling a subject most people don’t open up about. I want to hear more.

It’s a rollercoaster for sure!

Sometimes it is really hard to find your voice. Especially when society expects you to feel shamed. I’m amazed at the openness of this podcast. Initially you feel like an emotional voyeur into the lives of other or that they are revealing too much. But then you realize you are on their road to recovery and healing. You can’t but help to root for them.
