    About Shannon Whitney Anson:
Hi, I'm Shannon!  Upstate New York has been my home for my entire adult life. I’m so grateful to live in such a beautiful part of the country. I grew up right near Lake George and currently live outside Albany with my husband and our three rescue pups. I have run 15 marathons (and counting), love East Coast IPA's, and my iPod is stocked full of music from my favorite band (Phish!).
I started planning weddings in 2007 and during the last 13+ years I have seen more and more couples looking to break the cookie cutter mold and plan a completely unique celebration for their family and friends. That’s why I love getting to know my couples and building them a special event that is expertly crafted and authentically them.

    Quotes:

“You can take an average person and make them look like they belong on the cover of a magazine and I thought that was really rewarding.”

“It’s crucial for you to feel comfortable with and to feel like you could be friends with the wedding vendors that are with you all day on your wedding.”

“You have to study your client because in order to be able to showcase them correctly in their photos and really give you that essence of who they are you have to know who they are.”

“Put all of your detail stuff in one spot so when I get there you can just point and I can go start with all of that and I don’t have to bug you and you can enjoy your morning with your girls.”

“Prepare and plan. The more you do up front and in the beginning the less you have to worry about the day of.”

“The photographer has a shot list of all the family members so we can easily call out names but we don’t know what people look like so have your aunt or your cousin or someone who is familiar with all of the people expected to be in those family photos have that duty to wrangle all of those people.”

“I never wanted to be just a name on the vendor list. I want to be a trusted advisor that you consider a friend.”

“If you like avocado, if you like funfetti, if you like having fun then I’m the girl for you.”

    PREMIER WEDDING VOW WRITING SERVICE

BUY YOUR WEDDING VOWS WITH PRIDE

XO Juliet was born out of necessity, when founder Alexis Dent — an award-winning writer and author — noticed a common frustration and fear being expressed by her peers preparing to tie the knot. When planning a wedding, there are many lists to check off and services on which to splurge. It can be stressful; we know. Just call us your something borrowed, and place us right next to your something blue.

What are the services XO Juliet provides?
Why people decide to have custom written vows?

    Quotes:

“A big portion of our revenue is wedding party speeches.”

“We put your love on paper.”

“If you can convey your love to us orally or written, it might be a little blotchy & you may flub it but then we can use that to piece together into something that’s going to shine.”

“When you decide you’re going to do a non-denominational ceremony, you king of don’t really know where to go next if you’re not a great writer.”

“We aren’t telling you what you feel about your relationship, we’re simply packaging it in a way that is receptive to your audience, and more importantly, to your partner.”

“What do you want your vows to do? Do you want them to make your audience laugh, cry, or inspire?”

“Do not repeat the same lines. Do not just try to go for something that you think sounds good. Make it about something that you know is true in your heart.”

“Celebrities truly are no different than we are. The only thing that is different is that there is more at risk by saying that they had some random stranger in upstate New York write their vows.”

“One thing people feel like they should steer away from is mentioning some negative things in their vows, but there is always a positive way to lace negative parts of a relationship.”

“Don’t be afraid to include things that aren’t so pretty.”

“Writing your vows is a really big undertaking, you can love your partner or love the friend that you are toasting as much as you could possibly love them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you feel comfortable putting those words on paper.”

“If you’re a member of the wedding party, it’s no different than getting fitted for a suit. You’re not going to go sew the suit yourself, you don’t have to write the toast yourself, what matters is that it comes from your heart and that it encompasses the relationship.”

    Quotes:

“I really had to sit down and think about the direction I wanted my business to take & what about the business was really rewarding to me and it really came down to being able to see my client’s reactions when I was able to provide them with something tangible.”

“I’m not going to let any client walk through my studio without leaving with an album.”

“I think people have this fear of losing their images and I think by having them in digital form they think they won’t be lost down the road and that they can always print them later. The reality is though that they kind of just end up staying there & you’re not reliving them. They might be stored somewhere but you’re not actually saving them because you’re not allowing yourself to experience them.”

“I truly believe when you hire a high-quality photographer you’re going to want to have a high-quality product to match that.”

“I think it’s really important to think about how you want to relive your images years from now, whether you want it to be on social media or you want it to be in a tangible way that you can share with your family.”

    Quotes:
“That’s what I’m best at doing, is creating that special, tailored sound, look, vibe, and style.”

“It’s up to your budget but also the size of your guest list, if you are doing a 300-400 person wedding, having just a violin soloist is not really going to create the sound that is needed.”

“The instrument body itself is the amplification so when you see that big cello body, that is the speaker.”

“People come to us because they see the list of pop music that we have. It’s significant, it’s really big & I’m always adding to that list and people love that. They want to hear the music that they know and they want it to be played to their family and friends but they don’t want to have the recording and the words played along. They want it to be the instrumental version of their favorite song.”

“Every couple is different so every single wedding is different. They are never the same at all.”

“Romance is that string quartet sound.”

“I want to show that love and have that magic happen even for people that I don’t know. We can all be touched by music & have that connection together.”

“You are planning a wedding based on your priorities.”

“If you want to make sure that when you walk down the aisle that the right piece is playing, that people are going to be paying attention, that you know have played at weddings before, and you want that magic to happen on your wedding day then you hire a professional.”
