Nudie Reads The German Pre-Poe [S2E44]

In 1810 when Edgar Allan Poe was just a year old, German writer Heinrich von Kleist wrote a Poe-like tale that had all the Poe-type elements but not quite the panache of the American. Kleist came before Poe. Still, von Kleist's work is a vital literary building block by a great writer. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ—ก๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘ป

Nudie Reads Leg O Lamb [S2E43]

Roald Dahl is most famous for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, James & The Giant Peach and Matilda. But his short story collection called ย Tales of the Unexpected is a classic of thriller literature. So good Alfred Hitchcock loved it. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿฝโœ๏ธ

Nudie Reads I Wish You Bad Luck [S2E42]

In 2017 US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts gave a gem of a commencement speech to middle school graduates at a New Hampshire boys' school. His speech was beautifully written and the advice unusual but very wise.

Nudie Reads Moliere Le Malade Imaginaire [S2E41]

Moliere is the French Shakespeare, a brilliant playwright, poet and actor of the 17th century. He was beloved by Louis XIV, the Sun King himself, and remains a genius of the French language and of the art of mocking pieties, 400 years after his birth. ย ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคฎโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Nudie Reads King Ashurbanipal's Glass Recipe [S2E40]

Nudie Reads King Ashurbanipal's Glass Recipe [S2E40]

The first recorded recipe for glass was found in 1845 in the Library at Nineveh, founded by King Ashurbanipal of Assyria around 650 BCE. In 1970 the recipe was put to the test (not including the sheep sacrifice). And it worked. It may be ancient but it's still chemistry. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿธ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿฅ›

    Nudie Reads Jane Eyre [S2E39]

Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" is a great galumphing bodice ripping romance novel with a terrific storyline. We have Charlotte to thank for the concept of the mad woman in the attic. Some people call it the the world's first feminist novel but don't let that put you off. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘’โœ๏ธโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ‘‚

For avid readers and lovers of language!

Listened to episode โ€œNudie Reads Frankensteinโ€. Great musical intro! Got me excited for this exploration. Your voice and accent are so easy to listen to. Such a sophisticated tone and peaceful demeanor. Found myself relaxing during the read.

The story of Frankenstein is classic for sure. Enjoyed your take on the material. The way you articulate is lovingly meticulous. A plethora of spectacular vernacular.

Thank you for this conversational cuisine. Will love to continue devouring the many book bites you provide! Recommend this podcast to any lovers of reads.

Thank you Nudie's mom for reading to her!

I told myself I wasn't going to subscribe to anymore podcasts. NONE. Then, somehow, Nudie Reads entered my feed. I have binged listened and it is now one of my favorites. Her choices are spectacular. The background she gives to each choice is enlightening and her humor and insight, refreshing. She has introduced me to many classics that I have added to my reading list, many of which I can't wait to share with my grandchildren. I'm glad I didn't listen to myself!
