So freaking cool
I LOVED the papyrus scroll episode. Highlights the best of community, science and tech. Thanks for your work on sharing this amazing story.
Papyrus Palimpsest
I may have missed it, but I saw no mention of papyrus palimpsests. Scribes used to recycle papyrus scrolls. They would take a previously finished scroll and scrape the content off of it. The scraping did not completely erase the content and it was visible especially in the margins of the new writing
That provides a layer of complexity when trying to decipher scrolls. The most famous papyrus palimpsest currently, is the Archimedes palimpsest where 7 treatises of Archimedes and other writings were dismantled in 1250 to make a prayer book. Look it up.
High quality
Great storytelling and almost always a fun listen.
