So, how does one recognize the voice of God and distinguish it from all the other voices that we hear? Is it audible or does God communicate differently?

From the time I was a new Christian, I began to ask the questions, “Does God still speak today? If so, how does God speak and provide comfort, inspiration, and guidance?” Forty-four years later, I can tell you without hesitation, “Yes! God still communicates today to His people!”

No where in the New Testament (NT) can we read that God stopped speaking and communicating with His people. In fact, it is just the opposite!

Surveys reveal 90% of Christians don’t believe they hear God’s voice.
But if you are a born-again believer in Jesus, He is your shepherd and states clearly in His word you are a sheep who hears His voice (John 10:27). He wants us to know His voice and follow Him.
Settle this truth in your heart, you hear His voice! Learning how to clearly discern God’s voice evolves from spending time with Him in real relationship.
He is the good shepherd who loves us, laid down His life for us, and desires to walk with us in close fellowship and communication.
There is no formula to hearing the voice of God. Each of us will hear and communicate with God slightly different.

Hearing God pt2 My Sheep Hear My Voice

    David Milligan

10 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” John 10:1-5 NKJV

Many wonder today, “Can I hear God’s voice?” The answer is yes! The Bible and Church history are full of examples and instruction as to how we can safely and confidently hear the voice of God.
Jesus told Martha, “One thing is needed, Mary has chosen the better part.” Mary quieted herself and chose to listen to Him. Not just teaching, but relationally connecting with Jesus. The Message Bible translates as “One thing only is essential.”
There are many things that can help us grow as Christians. But Jesus made it clear that one essential thing is to have close relationship with Him, whereby we can hear Him. If you have a close relationship with someone, communication is involved. Even Jesus lived in this close relationship with the Father and could hear His voice. He demonstrated how to live from relationship and communication with the Father.

Sir, We Wish to See Jesus pt 2

Aren’t you glad we serve a risen savior who has given us new birth, eternal life, and hope? Truly, hope springs eternal in Christ! This week, Pastor Bob finished part two of a short series, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus” from John 12:21.Culture tends to view the Church as narrow, unloving, and unwelcoming. We should endeavor to love people in nonjudgmental ways, welcoming them. This is the heart of Jesus. Each of us are sinners saved by His grace and mercy. We should view people as people in need of a savior. Not as sinners deserving of judgment.
