Have you ever struggled to learn something new? Struggling to master new knowledge or skills is pretty common. Sometimes learning is hard because we don’t want to receive new things. We’re happy where we are, or the new knowledge doesn’t fit with our view of the world. In other words, we doubt. The church has not been good about doubt. We’ve made people feel guilty or wrong for asking hard questions. Today, we'll explore how to wrestle with doubt honestly, faithfully, and lovingly. We will draw inspiration from the story of Thomas, who missed Jesus' visit to the disciples after his Resurrection. We’ll see how the Risen Christ works to help us face our doubts and overcome them.

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Today, we begin a new series called Living the Resurrection. This will use the post-resurrection encounters with Jesus to help us better understand the difference that a risen savior makes. Today, we learn from the apostle to the apostles, Mary Magdalene. Mary is the first witness to the resurrection and the first one sent to share the good news. Her story helps us understand how the Risen One changes things for us.

We are witnesses. Those of us who have come to know and love Jesus understand the power of this night. The story of His suffering breaks our hearts. The fact He loves us this much overwhelms our minds. His sacrifice frees us from sin and death. Tonight, we bear witness to what our Lord has done for us. Let the story move us to love, follow, and serve as He commands, for we are witnesses. We have a story to tell.
