106 (Spanglish) Dinero Series: Building Wealth Regardless of Immigration Status with Maribel Francisco (encore)

In this special episode of "Friends of Peruvians of USA", Nathalie chats with Maribel Francisco. Maribel is the daughter of Mexican indigenous immigrants, and she is an immigrant money coach and speaker. Maribel has worked with the immigrant community for over 10 years as a certified income tax preparer. She has been featured in The New York Times and has appeared on the Immigrant Investor Show. Maribel Francisco knows what it’s like to be first: the first in her family to attend university, the first to enter corporate America, and the first to invest in the stock market. She also knows what it’s like to live on the streets and cope with a parent’s deportation. Now, with an international business degree and expertise in finance, Francisco is paying it forward with Our Wealth Matters, a fully bilingual resource where U.S.-based immigrants can learn to earn, save, and invest.

104 (English) Dinero Series: 401 que? and other financial lessons no one taught us (Encore)

Andrea was born in Lima, Peru, and came to the US at a young age. Right out of college, her starting salary was $22,000/year. This ignited her personal finance journey - out of necessity. After 18 months, she managed to save $8,000. Andrea has gone through many stages in her money journey - from saving aggressively and struggling with overspending to eventually learning how to invest & make her money work for her. In 2019, she started a financial education company, Building Gen Wealth, to share her passion for money with women of color. BGW exists to empower women of color to take control of their finances and confidently and unapologetically start building generational wealth.

Incredible podcast

As a half Peruano who is on a journey of cultural discovery, this podcast has been incredibly inspiring and informative. I recognize myself in the stories shared, and walk away with a renewed appreciation for la cultura Peruana and la experiencia inmigrante. Cannot recommend this show enough, and cannot wait for new episodes!

Diverse content

I am an avid podcast listener to keep inform on current events and views, so I am thrilled to have found this podcast dedicated to the Peruvian experience through the Instagram handle. Enjoying the content so far, the music, the questions. Truly shows the diversity in the history of the Peruvian immigrant in the US present and past. Also provides historical references back to Peru. Very insightful! Contigo, Peru 🇵🇪💕 Thank you for creating the space.
