"Pippa's Passing" is the fictional memoir of 44 year old Jeff Carter who learns that an old love, Pippa Bailey, has died and he relates their story together from their first meeting in high-school up to eleven years before her death when he last saw her. The bulk of the story runs from the fall of 1977 through their last meeting in 1993. It has some mysteries in it and some connections to Alfred Hitchcock's movie "Vertigo" as well as references to Elvis Presley and lyrics from his songs as motivation for the characters. Jeff‘s memories recall an intense relationship between the two and although the novel starts with Jeff learning of Pippa's passing, the subsequent recollections bring her to life. By the end of the novel the reader will have been so immersed in their story that it's possible to forget Pippa is gone and will cheer on this couple, hoping for a happy ending. All is revealed in the final chapter and I think it's almost impossible not to feel sad at the ending but also hopeful. After living with the book for six months, I decided there was an extra chapter begging to be told. I have included this as an alternate ending but essentially it could be a continued ending.
I am the narrator of each Podcast which are audio adaptations of each chapter in my unpublished novel, "Pippa's Passing." I also provide the voice of Jeff Carter. All of the other voices are computer generated because the cost of hiring live actors was prohibitive. Working with computer voices wasn't always easy and trying to get them to sing, laugh, or sometimes even pronounce a word in a certain way was challenging but I think the result is acceptable. I have added music cues and sound effect to bring the story to life. I imply no rights to any of the music. The result is a phenomenal story brought to life and I hope it will generate some interest in helping me to find a publisher for "Pippa's Passing."
