This podcast is for christians and skeptics who want to understand more about the bible. For christians, it will seek to reflect more deeply on the life of Jesus and make better sense of his words and actions. It will regularly give examples of how the threads of thoughts shared by men and women over hundreds of generations weave together in dialog – sometimes in agreement, but often in disagreement. For the skeptics, this podcast will seek to remove the straw man arguments presented by the very capable and intelligent men and women of the New Atheism movement. Their lectures and debates show honesty and conviction, but their examples and biblical parodies are based on a limited hearing or reading of the best expositions of the bible text – expositions that do not get the exposure and distribution that the more popular and accessible interpretations receive. It takes time and effort to peel back thousands of years of anachronistic interpretations, language-shifts and abuses by well-meaning and not-so-well meaning followers. So, if the skeptics will hang in there and give this program time, they will hear some interesting perspectives on the amazing aims and claims of Jesus.

The episodes will fall into a few different formats. Some will be simply the host and a mic, others will be interviews with leaders and interesting persons, and many will be edited versions of the hosts live talks. Whichever format an episode of this podcast takes, the producers trust it will be thought-provoking and around long enough, for those interested in investing the time, to provide a glimpse into the original intent of Jesus’ words and life.

Planet Jesus – Canceling Cancel Culture – Ep. 21

Planet Jesus – Canceling Cancel Culture – Ep. 21

Welcome to the Planet Jesus Podcast! This is Ep. 21 "Canceling Cancel Culture." In this episode, I acknowledge that there are times when we need to call out bad behavior and sin. But, that can only occur from a position of relationship. Also, I address the void that exists for a person who is canceled. Cancel culture does not provide a space for people to change but rather forces war-like entrenchment in order for the one who is canceled to survive. The Christian program for addressing sin is repentance - forgiveness - reconciliation. This program creates a space for one who deserves to be canceled to be recovered into the relationship. Who doesn't need that? Who is free from offense?

Planet Jesus – Busy, Not Busybodies – Ep. 20

Planet Jesus – Busy, Not Busybodies – Ep. 20

The Kingdom of God is structured for interdependence were everyone labors to support the needs of the whole. Christians should work together to support one another and represent a kingdom of abundance, not scarcity.

Planet Jesus – Worship Leads to Living – Ep. 19

Planet Jesus – Worship Leads to Living – Ep. 19

As the Apostle Paul writes to the Roman Christians, he challenges them to think about their role in society. Throughout time these questions have always been relevant to Christians.  Who do we know that deserves our wrath, but instead receives our graciousness? How do we use our God given gifts? How should we react to the world around us, or in other words… Who is our neighbor’s best neighbor?

Planet Jesus – Citizens of Heaven – Ep. 18

Planet Jesus – Citizens of Heaven – Ep. 18

Shining the Light for a world enveloped in darkness is not simply a task set for us. On the contrary, this Light should shine as part of our birthright as Children of God. Being a good citizen of heaven affords us with great opportunity and privilege, not to squander, but to share, by modeling God’s character to, not just those we care about, but to those whom God cares about.

Planet Jesus – Good Cretans – Ep. 17

Planet Jesus – Good Cretans – Ep. 17

In this episode, the Apostle Paul, an early detractor and then follower of Jesus, speaking to believers in Crete, describes how humble obedience and love can influence those around us. He explains how Christians should behave out in the world? Respond to the issues of the day…? And support rulers and authorities… even if you didn’t vote for them?

    Planet Jesus – Judgement & Mercy – Ep. 16

    Planet Jesus – Judgement & Mercy – Ep. 16

There is a delicate balance between judgement and mercy; too much of either creates social problems. In this episode, we will consider an often misunderstood passage regarding the commission of the disciples of Jesus to be fishers of men. What has been interpreted as a statement of evangelical inclusiveness is actually a message of judgement. That said, embedded in the story and in its roots in Hebrew history, we see the mercy of God come through. We hope you enjoy.

Great Podcast!!

Rob is an engaging and passionate speaker. He really tells personal and biblical stories in a way that brings out interesting and revealing truths that offer an unexpected perspective on ancient stories, even for the biblical scholar. At the same time, he makes sure to explain the details at every juncture plainly, as to not go over the head of a listener who is not a regular participant in Christian tradition. Great podcast—can’t wait to hear more!
