"Harry Potter and the Sacredness of Play" by Mark Pratt-Russum West Hills Friends

On Halloween night children dressed as Harry Potter, and another as a werewolf broke out into imaginative play. These children had at the center of their play a compelling story. They weren't just consumers of that story, they were participants and collaborators. For his message Mark wondered about whether or not the story of Christianity in 2018 is a compelling one. He wondered how the legacy of gatekeeping has created an expression of faith that is guarded, closed down, unimaginative, and stale. What if we found, in our story, the wild potential for collaboration and play?
