Lex Gillette, Paralympic Champion. For this edition of Sunday Morning Magazine, we celebrated people with disabilities who are doing amazing things. While on the air, Lex explained that he lost his sight when he was 8-years-old. He shared his many struggles of learning to adjust to his new life without sight. He said he had to learn to read braille and use a cane. While in High School, he discovered Track & Field. The sport changed his life. Lex is the best totally blind long and triple jumper in the history of the U.S. Paralympic games. He is the current world record holder in the long jump, a four-time Paralympic medalist, a three-time long jump world champion, and an 18-time national champion.
