Love Everything About This Podcast!

Just found this wonderful, creepy, historic podcast. Everything about it is perfect. The two hosts are women who’ve never met but communicate as if best friends —one is in the US and one is in Austria. Each episode is very well researched and their co-telling the story only enhances the episode. It’s the kind of podcast you’d want to binge listen. Kudos to these wonderful women and their hard work choosing, researching and narrating these amazing creepy historic tales of horror.

I just listened to the latest episode and at the end both Annie and Johanna shared each of their frightening news. First, Annie—as a fellow traveller relating to nerve pain, I was on Gabapentin for peripheral neuropathy for years and stopped when I moved to the West Coast 12 years ago. New PCP reviewed my med list and thought it best to get me off as many as possible if they no longer mattered. Long story short, stopped Gabapentin and realized I no longer had any foot pain. 8 yrs later, pain returned, saw my neurologist and he started me back on Gabapentin which no longer worked. A friend recommended asking doc to switch me to Lyrica. Literally within 1 hour of taking 1st pill, pain was completely gone, but dizziness replaced it. Called neurologist and he lowered the dose. We worked out a plan whereby I’d keep lowering the dosage to a point where I wasn't in pain, but also wasn’t dizzy! Hooray! I’m now off Lyrica completely but can restart if pain returns. 🤞🏽

Johanna—Two dogs ago (we’re now with our 2nd Cairn terrier—think Toto!), our beautiful rescued blond Cocker Spaniel came to us with a dubious history. He was so dirty when we picked him up we thought he was brown! Soon he had a seizure which freaked us out. It lasted about 1/2 hour and we learned the signs immediately. Rushed Jack to the vet who diagnosed him with a mild form of epilepsy (which we re-named “pupalepsy”) She prescribed Valium to give him the moment another seizure came on. It reduced the length and severity by 1/2. Unlike humans, it’s fine to put your hand in an epileptic dog’s mouth. Vet said as long as they were infrequent, the Valium would be fine, rather than putting him on phenobarbital which would make him a zombie. Little Jack lived 10 years until the night I was rushed to the ICU with a pulmonary embolism. That night Jack had a severe seizure and died in my husband’s lap at home.

Hope maybe some or all of this info is helpful…but I’m not an MD or vet, so please consult your medical experts before starting anything!!

Good luck, be safe, stay well, and keep making your wonderful podcasts!
