Day 1 - Introduction to Christian Meditation (40 Days of Stillness‪)‬ The Daily Still Podcast - Guided Christian Meditations and Devotions

    • Christianity

Christian meditation is a form of prayer. This meditation encourages intimacy with God through a time of stillness, aligning body, soul, mind and spirit with the One who created us.
But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. Psalm 1:2 NLT
The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him. Habakkuk 2:20 NIV
References:
"It's in that quiet stillness that God grows our souls and quiets our hearts." David Arms
"Christian meditation is a form of prayer, a way of helping us become aware of and reflect upon God by focusing on specific thoughts and scriptures." Wikipedia
Generations of Christian leaders and teachers have gone before us sharing their journey of drawing closer to God through the spiritual disciplines of silence, solitude and contemplative prayer.
Numerous resources and people have influenced my personal journey as I seek God in deeper ways. I want to acknowledge the following books and materials that I refer to and recommend:
Invitation to Solitude and Silence - by Ruth Haley Barton
Sacred Rhythms - by Ruth Haley Barton, InterVarsity Press
The Father's Business by Sylvia Gunther - a source of excellent resources on prayer, blessings, alignment of body, soul and spirit and spiritual identity.  @thefathersbusiness.com
