Research into the future of Australia's great Southern Reef shows that our kelp forest habitats are in trouble. Even under the most optimistic scenarios, ocean warming is likely to case substantial kelp loss by 2100. What does this mean for the fish, invertebrates and other marine life that depend on kelp forests for their existence? Is there any hope at all? Bron and Dr Beach speak with ecological modeller Dr Ben Radford from the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences to find out. Rex Hunter tells us all about clipper ships - what they were, why they were used, and some that were wrecked in Victoria and are of interest to are maritime heritage historians. Rex will be joined by Dr Maddy McAllister, maritime archaeologist at Heritage Victoria, to talk about the Amazon project at Inverloch, jointly led by the Victorian Government's Maritime Heritage Unit and Flinders University Masters Students. And Soundwaves continues its theme of Aussie TV shows of yesteryear with a maritime theme. Jeff Maynard says this one features an American cowboy. Something for everyone this week.
