After saying "I do" in 2013, Tammy began her journey in the world of stepparenting. Juggling the struggles of being a stepmommy with the pressures of blended family life, Tammy was ready to step away from it all, including her marriage. However, with the help of personal therapy, marriage counseling, prayer and new founded confidence, Tammy found the strength to continue on in her truth. Refreshingly authentic
Love the episode where she talks about her mistakes. Stepmoms, we’re human!! All we can do is keep trying our best.
March 8 episode features an abuser
I do not recommend Plus HER - A Stepmom’s Journey. Not only does Anne-Laurie Forbes do a poor job of vetting “Stepmom Lisa,” who she features on podcast episode eight, but when you do message Ms. Forbes and ask her to properly fact-check, she blocks and ignores your concerns. I’ve done my own online research into “Stepmom Lisa”—she never mentions that her stepson’s mother, Kate Ranta, as well as his maternal grandfather, were both shot after Kate made the decision for him to live with his father and “Stepmom Lisa.” Lisa’s stepson’s biomom nearly died. The man who shot her is serving a 60-year prison sentence. This a critical piece to be left out and should be a red flag to the host of this podcast! Lisa Williams speaks for more than 40 minutes about her struggles with step motherhood, but leaves out the domestic abuse and violence that took place in her stepson’s mother’s life, both before and after “Stepmom Lisa’s” stepson came to live with her. I could write a dissertation with what I have unconverted online about Lisa Williams. She is a classic psychopath, in my opinion. The signs and red flags are all online.
Poor choice of guests
It’s hard to push back against the “evil stepmom” narrative with a podcast that features stepmoms who proclaim “I did not sign up for this”. Guest Lisa Williams admits that she was dating a man with a child, he was granted custody when his son was 4 and she didn’t marry him till the child was 11. How do you become an “unexpected stepmom” if you are dating a person who has children? She makes stepmoms look bad...why have a story like this on if you are trying to show all the good that stepmoms do? It doesn’t make sense.
