Welcome to Episode 52 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

The precept that “relationships are everything” is the topic for Episode 52. Building relationships regularly will make a difference in your life and business. This is what I shared with my community earlier today…

I had the most wonderful call with Niranjan Pradham this morning. You may be familiar with his gorgeous designs and I have purchased some of them as well. Niranjan reached out to me a few days ago and after we wrote back and forth for a few minutes it turned out we had people and interests in common. Now we’re planning to launch something exciting together in the near future.

The reason I’m sharing this story with you because I want to emphasize the importance of building relationships online. Even though I’m an introvert, I work on this skill every day. And this morning was a reminder to me to reach out to people that I don’t think I have anything in common with, because that is seldom true. Niranjan reached out to me because my name had come up in something he was reading. Now I’m on a quest to reach out to more people I don’t know much about to see what is possible.

Are you making the effort to connect with people every single day? This is the fastest, most effective, and enjoyable way to build a lucrative business that will provide you with the lifestyle you want and deserve.

It’s time to get out of your comfort zone, once and for all and on a regular basis. Once you stretch your mind beyond where it’s at right now, you’ll never go back to what you did previously. This is the quote that comes to mind when I think about this idea – “Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Think of your life and business as a way to share your personal feelings, thoughts, and beliefs with the world. I first learned about this as a concept from the people who were in my first Rotary Club when I joined in 2006. They each had something they felt strongly about and incorporated it into their business. The psychotherapist was an animal lover and had photos of rescued animals in her office. That would start the conversation with her clients and many of them got involved. The man who owned a car dealership had sons who were active in local theatre productions and that became a way to connect with prospects and customers. What do you care deeply about that can be a topic to discuss to set yourself apart from others in your niche or field?

Actions are everything and bring about the results we wish to achieve. Be sure to come aboard for my complimentary Action Habits Challenge and we can work through this topic together. As a part of this training I am highly recommend the book Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek.

Welcome to Episode 51 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

Making a commitment to excellence and only having three items on your “to-do” list each day are the topics I discuss in Episode 51. I discuss the importance of finding things in both your personal and professional life that you feel strongly enough about to become fully committed. Also, take a closer look at the idea of decluttering your physical space and mental thoughts. Then I go into a rant about the idea of multi-tasking and how it’s not possible to do two or more things that require conscious decisions, simultaneously.

Welcome to Episode 50 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

Perfectionism and minimalism are the topics in Episode 50. I discuss the importance of letting perfectionism go and believing that the imperfections in the world are to be celebrated. I share the story of how the dent in my new car came to be, and why I chose not to have it repaired. We must remember that perfection is only in the eye of the beholder and that even if something appears perfect in your eyes, that may not be the case in the future. Think about the parts of your life you are not living to the fullest because you are concerned about them not being perfect. This kept me from writing and speaking for many years. Once I released my belief that everything had to be perfect my life and my thinking changed from the inside out.

Becoming minimalist is a choice. We all have too much stuff in our lives and it’s important to understand that “we are enough” with everything we do and have. I’ve written an article about becoming minimalist you may wish to read. Taking full responsibility for our life frees us up to have more people, places, and experiences in my life. New shoes or jewelry or furniture do not make us the person we want and deserve to be.

Think of your life and business as a way to share your personal feelings, thoughts, and beliefs with the world. I first learned about this as a concept from the people who were in my first Rotary Club when I joined in 2006. Welcome to Episode 49 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In Episode 49 the topic is “Baby Steps: Are They Keeping You From Achieving Excellence?” The idea of taking small steps as you approach something new in your life may be beneficial initially. Over time, you must take regular and giant steps in order to achieve your goals.

I have a new book with Ellen Finkelstein entitled Speakers! The Quick Public Speaking to Business Method: Turning Your Talk into an Ongoing Revenue Stream. Whether you are brand new to speaking or are a seasoned public speaker, this book will make a difference for you.

The rate you receive might be excellent and your earnings high. But there’s a ceiling that you’ll never break through because even at a good rate, you only have so much time and there’s only so much work you can do.

Or, you write an eBook. You do some background work to create the book, publish it, and advertise it. This includes building a website where people can purchase and download your eBook, and efforts to drive traffic to this site. The site is totally automated. People land there and buy, and the cash rolls in without you doing anything further.

    Ideas for Passive Income Streams

So, how do people create passive incomes? Here are some of the common ways people do this:

eBooks. You can create eBooks and publish them on platforms like Amazon’s KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) as Kindle downloads or paperback books . You may also use a platform you own and control like I do with Nanacast for most of my products and courses. They can be selling on those platforms (as well as your website) while you take care of other business.

Evergreen Online Courses. Offer online automated courses and webinars. These aren’t live courses, but pre-recorded and automated, and on “evergreen” topics that are always relevant.

Digital Products. Create other types of digital products such as video tutorials and podcasts that teach your audience how to do something. These can be available for purchase and download.

Membership Sites. Create a membership site that charges for membership or runs on a subscription basis.

Affiliate Marketing. Sell similar products offered by other vendors for a commission. I have an active affiliate program you may wish to sign up for at Affiliate Links and Tools.

Entrepreneurship Allow You to Call the Shots

Having complete control over my time and income has provided me with a lifestyle I could not have previously imagined. This has spilled over to my personal life and to the lives of the people I love on two continents. Welcome to Episode 48 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing

In Episode 48 I share my “New Rules for 2021” to make sure you will achieve your goals and dreams going forward. You must change your mindset and your actions to ensure success. No more complaining about anything related to business being hard or difficult or even a challenge, because Brian Tracy teaches us that everything in business is a learnable skill.

Get involved – with your family, your friends and neighbors, and your community. This concept lead me to a Rotary meeting in 2006 and I’ve been a Rotarian ever since. I’ve traveled around the world with this group over the years. And my business has grown with their help and guidance. I would not have had the opportunities for corporate consulting without Rotarians recommending me in this way.

Create something unique and innovative! This could be as small as a one page checklist. Read and write every day, Create passive income. Passive income is actually “residual” income, and this means that you do the work once and then get paid over and over again for years to come.

Setting up a viable passive income stream is the dream of many small business owners and freelance service providers. This is a system where you don’t have to be there and work every minute for the money you earn. You put in the work to set it up and then, as it runs, you earn. In other words, you don’t just earn money equivalent to the time you put into your work.

Don’t take people or opportunities for granted. You already have everything you need in order to be successful in your chosen field or niche. Believe in yourself and keep moving closer to your goals.

    What a Passive Income Isn’t

Unfortunately, there are some widely-believed myths regarding passive incomes as well, so let’s look at what a passive income isn’t.

A passive income isn’t a lazy way to make money. You’re not going to be sitting on a beach sipping a frothy beverage while the money rolls in. There’s work to do to set up a passive stream of income. There may also be some light maintenance. Be prepared to put in this work.

Passive income streams also aren’t just about making money. A passive stream of income can help you deal with economic insecurity. It can give you a “salary” that releases you from having to work for every penny. You can give yourself a financial cushion that allows you time to focus on other aspects of your business.

    Praestabilis: Excelllence in Marketing

Welcome to Episode 47 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 47 I discuss the concept of creating passive income. For over twenty years I worked as a classroom teacher and simultaneously as a real estate broker and residential appraiser. During those years all of my income was active, meaning that I had to be actively present in order to earn money.

My background before coming online was as a classroom teacher and also working part-time as a real estate broker and residential appraiser. No passive income there; if I wasn’t doing the work myself I did not get paid. I did have people who helped me with my real estate business from time to time over the years, but I was hands on with supervising them and their activities at all times. In fact, this actually cost me money over the years because the time I was spending with them was time taken away from my work where I was earning the full amount.
