Is prayer something that can be learned, and how do I go about learning? What is meditation, and is it for people like me? How do I pray with the Scriptures? What do people mean when they talk about ‘doing God’s will’, and how do they work out what that is? If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions, then Praying with Ignatius is the programme for you. Presented by Sister Gemma Simmonds

St. Ignatius Loyola’s early dreams of heroic glory as a soldier ended when he was wounded in battle.  His convalescence started him on a personal journey exploring his purpose in life and the things that helped or prevented him from achieving it.  He developed a personal relationship with God which transformed his own life and helped him to become one of the foremost teachers of prayer, helping people to discover how they can become their best, God-given selves.

This Lenten programme is led by Sister Gemma Simmonds of the Congregation of Jesus, author of The Way of Ignatius: a Prayer Journey Through Lent (SPCK, 2019).  A teacher of Christian Spirituality at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge, you can find out more at https://spckpublishing.co.uk/blog/gemma-simmonds-on-things-she-d-tell-her-younger-self.html
