Prof Tulio de Oliveira is the Director of the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform (KRISP) and Bioinformatician at UKZN he is a world-renowned bioinformatician who identified a new variant of COVID-19 in South Africa in December 2020, in 2021 he set up a new institute at Stellenbosch University aimed at understanding and controlling epidemics and pandemics in Africa. Last week Prof Tulio was selected for TIME100 Health 2024: 2nd recognition as one of world’s 100 most influential individuals. He joins us now all the way from Sweeden where he’s meeting other great thinkers in the world of science and some great investors in health like Bill Gates.
