A Very Prompt Chat - Davis Gilbert Jr

Salutations! Welcome back to the collection of mini-episodes that we’re creating in-between our main series (which is back again for eight new episodes later this year). In ‘A Very Prompt Chat’ we talk with fellow writers and prompteteers around the world and ask them to create and read a new piece of work for us (based on one of our previous prompts).
For this next episode, we’re talking with fellow podcaster ‘Davis Gilbert Jr’ who lives in Texas and whose own podcast is called ‘The Crossroads of Inspiration’. Davis describes himself as a harbinger of happiness. Wanting to bring a smile to the faces of those he meets and improve their day. His own life has been quite the journey, Having experienced things foreign to many people. From touring with Billy Idol to his family owning a decommissioned military base. Then losing everything. Allowing him to continue his journey from another unique perspective. Writing was a hobby that he meandered with until a conversation with the muse planted the seed which grew into ‘The Crossroads of Inspiration’ Podcast, where Davies and his guest start at the same point and then take a creative journey and see where they end up.
You can find out more about the show at: crossroadsofinspiration.com
In this episode Davis is using the prompt, “Describe an Orange to Someone Who Has Never Seen One”
As well as the prompt response, we talk about how we find ideas, how to take chances, writing fan fiction and being positive in how you approach life.

Episode 6 - Severed Heads & Banana Delivery (with Molly Aitken & Conor O'Callaghan)

Episode 6 - Severed Heads & Banana Delivery (with Molly Aitken & Conor O'Callaghan)

Enter the scintillating world of severed heads and banana delivery logistics, as we sit side by side with award winning guests Molly Aitkin, author of The Island Child, and Conor O’Callaghan, author of We Are Not In The World. Joining hosts Letty Butler and Stephen Mellor, as they respond live, against the clock, to a series of writing prompts, as well as discussing the highs and lows and challenges of being a writer, how to haunt your readers, and why it is so hard to say ‘I’m a writer.’ Oh, and Conor disrupts the prompts with the most succinct response to the 3 minute prompt ever.
In this episode the pre-prepared prompt was taken from the twitter account @itstimetowrite, and was ‘go to your bookshelf, pull out a red book, turn to page 32, the first noun on the page is your character’s worse fear, the last word is their best defence.’ The live three minute prompt was ‘someone keeps sending you severed heads of birds.’ The final one minute prompt was ‘describe an orange to someone who’s never seen one.’
Why not have a go at the prompts yourself (but don’t forget to time yourself, and try not to cheat, lol) and send us your own responses at prompetyprompt@gmail.com or via twitter.com/prompetyprompt & instagram.com/prompetyprompt
