    Trek Untold-Episode 54 | John Fleck

    Trek Untold-Episode 54 | John Fleck

John Fleck, Silik on “Star Trek: Enterprise” & Other Aliens on TNG, DS9 and VOY

John Fleck has the distinction of being one of the few performers to have roles in every series from the second wave of Trek shows. He was the Romulan Taibak in Star Trek TNG "The Mind's Eye," a Cardassian overseer in DS9 "The Homecoming," as well as Ornithar from "The Search" and another Romulan named Koval from "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges," Abaddon from Star Trek Voyager "Alice," and Silik, leader of the Suliban and a perpetual thorn in the side of Captain Archer in all four seasons of Star Trek Enterprise.

John tells us all about the different makeup processes for his multitude of alien races, his memories of being on-set in these different series, and working with all of the Trek regulars!

Plus, memories of Leslie Nielsen in "The Naked Gun 2 ½", "Howard the Duck," "Pink Cadillac" with Clint Eastwood and Jim Carrey, insight into his performance art career, and the story behind being part of the controversial "NEA Four," a group of artists who took the National Endowment for the Arts to the Supreme Court in a case about censorship that continues to have implications today.

Karthik Bala: From Crash Bandicoot to Knockout City

This week the Eat 4 Life podcast welcomes Karthik Bala to the show. Karthik is the CEO of Velan Studios and is the brains behind the upcoming game Knockout City. Knockout City is a unique take on dodgeball sprinkled with a bit of Overwatch, Jet Set Radio Future, and a dash of NBA Jam. Knockout City hopes to disrupt the current multiplayer gaming landscape when it arrives on May 21st, and based on all the praise after its public beta, it has the tools to pull it off.

Knockout City will have cross-play at launch, so whether you're on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo consoles, you'll be able to enjoy the game with friends.

Karthik discusses the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to indie game development, and considering his involvement in games such as Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater coupled with 20 plus years of experience in the gaming industry; it is safe to say that the gems Karthik shares are worth absorbing and applying to your entrepreneurial endeavors.
