Looking at the issues the world faces through Glaswegian eyes.

Ep 118 - Paul Morris. Angry Young Men and independent Scottish cinema.

Ep 118 - Paul Morris. Angry Young Men and independent Scottish cinema.

This week we’re getting into independent Scottish cinema with Paul Morris, writer, director and, from the sounds of it, pretty much everything in between at some point in the production of his new film Angry Young Men.

We chat about the challenges and hurdles faced when making a movie independently in this country, how technology has changed things and how Paul’s influences can be seen in his work.

Angry Young Men is a surreal/ dystopian look at growing up in a scheme/ gang environment and how many who seek to leave often find themselves trapped where they are.

Hypocrisy, Cancel Culture, Scotland and Afghanistan - Rebel City Podcast - Episode #116

Hypocrisy, Cancel Culture, Scotland and Afghanistan - Rebel City Podcast - Episode #116

After a few weeks of being respectively floored with both Covid and Novid, we left the beers alone and finally did some work! We discuss plans to explore streaming formats and some of the great content producers we’ve engaged with so far, the nonsensical hypocrisy at the heart of Cancel Culture, the word “Hun” in the context of the current attempts to deflect legitimate criticism for overt racism and then to bring it home we got into some shit about the recent debacles in Afghanistan, just to keep it light. There was a bit of a sound issue towards the end, apologies and hopefully it doesn’t impact too much. As always all likes, shares, etc welcome- help us head f**k the algorithm into pushing us to more folk!
