In this Reboot Republic, Rory and Tony talk with Hugh Brennan of the O Cualann Co Housing Alliance about the work that Hugh is doing to actually build affordable housing and the blockages and lack of support he is facing from the Government and Department of Housing. Hugh outlines what is needed in order to build affordable housing. Not-for-profit affordable housing providers need additional funding (and loans) support from Government. He asks why isn't the Government doing it? And why is the Land Development Agency looking for double digit returns making affordable housing more expensive. And we finish with a key proposed solution of the state setting up factories to fast build tens of thousands of homes. A real solution.
