Dave Pisani, Barry Kay and Tod Pleasant have teamed up to create the Regular Joes Podcast, a show that will focus on various aspects of the things they love most, movies, toys, sci-fi, tv shows, comics, collecting, and much more. Each episode will feature subjects such as the cool vehicles and props from classic movies and tv show, the movie you would want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island as well as new or notable items the guys have added to their varied collections. Special celebrity guests will stop by from time-to-time to provide their input as well. There's no end to the useless stuff they know, but don’t call them Geeks, they're just Regular Joes!
Episode 377: Agatha Who?
Its always a good time when Brian “I’ve got one of those” Mix drops by to catch up. This week Brian and the Regular hosts talk about props and prop replicas. Stuff they have, stuff they want, and the deep void in Dave’s existence that stems from not owning a truly significant screen used prop. Prediction, this will not end well. They also cover the usual random topics, work in a round of Whats in the Box, and serve up a bonus slice of What’s on my Workbench. It’s covid folks, we talk, we buy stuff, we make, and we get by. And just because 1/2 of America is currently asking who the f**k is Agatha Harkness? they spend a few minutes talking (really speculating) about what is going on in WandaVision. SPOILER Nobody knows what is actually going on in WandaVision, thats why they can’t stop watching and talking about it. Two weeks to go. Thanks for listening!
Episode 376: Spaced
Three years ago Jeff Bezos saved The Expanse from a premature death in the cold depths of space. As the fifth season (the second on Amazon Prime) wraps up the Regular Joes comment on this, in many ways, unique Sci Fi (no longer SyFi) show. The political thriller, action adventure, human drama, continues to deliver, while deviating slightly, from the novel series by James S. A. Corey ... which Tod references several times after promising not to. Watch it, read it, whatever. Great stuff. Alan Tudyk, who you may recall from Firefly, Rogue One and a gajillion other roles, is back in the Sci Fi saddle, sort of, in Resident Alien. This story of a lone Alien trapped on Earth has been told many times but never anything quite like this. Lastly, because no one who is watching can stop theorizing on what is actually happening on WandaVison, there is some more of that too. All this plus the usual Random Topics. Thanks for listening!
Episode 375: You Look MARVELous
This past weekend roughly 92 million people sat through a bizarre event, involving several millionaires beating up each other to control an oblong ball, just to get a look at the new trailer for Marvel’s next Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Was it worth all that pain and suffering? Hell yes! After an interminable wait the MCU is back in all its shield throwing, Falcon flying, evil bad guy battling glory. And we have barely a month left to wait. Note: the full two minute version of the trailer is available online. If that’s not enough MARVEL, with episode 5 WandaVision crosses the halfway mark with still no explanation for the epic weirdness that has enveloped Westview, New Jersey. Who is responsible? Is Vision even really there? And .... the wrong Quicksilver WTF? All this plus What’s in the Box and the usual Round of Random Topics. Thanks for listening!
Episode 374: Marvel Orphans
This week’s episode has a theme ... if you look really closely. In its fourth week (of nine) the decidedly odd puzzle pieces of Disney+’s first Marvel series WandaVision are coming together. What these clues reveal is still very much an open question. The only thing certain at this point is the Regular Joes are hooked and will be speculating along with everyone else. Stay tuned. Over the last seven plus years the Joes respective Hot Toys collections have swelled mightily. One might argue there is some bad influence at work here. In the last few weeks each of the host added at least one of the Daughters of Thanos to their respective shelves. In this episode’s conjoined What’s in the Box segment the Joes explain why they finally decided to give a home to these recently orphaned blue and green ladies. All this plus the usual Random Topics. Thanks for listening!
Episode 373 - Sci-Fi Fav's
On this episode, the Regular Joes each discuss one of their favorite Science Fiction properties. Yeah, so you're thinking, how is that different from the previous 372 episodes right? Well, there was one rule...it couldn't be related to Star Trek or Star Wars in any way...so that added a level of complexity! What movies or shows did each host choose? Listen in to find out. Plus the usual helping of Random Topics and a round of What's in the Box. Thanks for listening!
Episode 372: Weird Wanda
Each year the Regular Joes gather to exchange gifts. And, like everything else in 2020, that did not quite happen as planned. Thus, nearly a month after the holiday, the Joes get together (safely distanced by several miles) and open presents they bought or made for each other. Yes, that is kinda odd. . .but it fits this week’s theme. After several long months of eager anticipation Disney+ just launched the first, of many, TV series based on characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision, which places the Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) and Vision (just Vision) in a reality anchored in the conventions of 1950’s and 1960’s sitcoms. If that sounds odd, it is. Another Marvel series is called “What If,” WandaVision might have been called “What The. . .?” It’s very, very strange but is it good strange or bad strange the Regular Joes weigh in, and as usual, opinions vary. Oh, and there is also Random Topics. Thanks for listening!

One Stop Geek Shop!
Full Disclosure: These dudes are my friends. So I may be biased. Except that they became friends due to the shared interests we all share, so really, every episode they're speaking my language, and therefore if you're here looking for a podcast about all things Pop Culture, movies, tv, comics, toys, etc, then they're speaking your language too.
This is a highly entertaining show where Dave, Barry and Tod (and sometimes others) discuss in great detail the coolest new stuff, including entertainment news, reviews of new shows, old shows, movies that are getting great buzz, and verdicts on whether or not they deserve it.
What's in the Box? They talk about items they bought recently.
What's on the Bench? They talk about projects they are currently working on, because as knowledgable as the three are, they are also hugely talented in their own right, creating items, model kits, painting, prop replicas, all manner of creative endeavors.
Really, what more can you want? One a day? Yeah, well that's not gonna happen. So we're happy enough with one a week.
THE Source for EVERYTHING you like
This podcast encompasses everything in geek culture. The personalities of the three hosts drive the show, while the content makes it a “must listen.” If you like comics, movies, toys, collecting, super heroes, and TV shows, you need to give this a listen.
To boldly review...
After listening to Episode 239, I was inspired to write a review of the podcast. It was a lot of fun taking a trip down memory lane and hearing about some of the highlights from the past five years.
I’ve enjoyed listening to every episode (Star Trek V live commentary was kind of rough ;-), since I started a couple of years ago. The banter between the three of you has been as enjoyable, if not more, than the content of the episodes themselves. I look forward every Friday morning to listening to a new episode as I drive to work.
Here’s to another five years! Gregg P.
